Gen3 3S-GE O2 Sensor Stuff

Hey guys,

Where abouts is the oxygen sensor located on a Gen. 3S-GE?
Posted some pics while I searched for it on my Showroom thread but couldn't seem to find it

Get some jack stands under it.   In your first photo if you sick your hand up between the axle and front of the crossmember it should bite ya !

Found it thanks to someone mentioning it in my showroom thread. Thanks though, this would've helped if I hadn't already found it!

Well, someone else may have the same question one day. Whatever it was.

Hoonsey, take it slow and do a little Google and forum research to get plug and play items as what the link is to is a generic o2 sensor. Depending on your o2 sensor bracket you maybe able to take the sensor out of the bracket, or you will need to purchase the o2 sensor plate.
Lots of guides for 3gse, mr2 and celica. Lots of club members with the 3sge.
Ensure you use the heat shielding on the wiring or it will melt and fail fast.
How did you determine it was dead? Rhetorical question just trying to say check through your maintenance before buying parts. A lot of the time you remove, clean and they work better.
They are not wideband and the old ecu that they operate on really makes only a very small amount of difference to your fuel mix / ecu.
Overall great work for your constant desire to make your mr2 in the best condition :)

When I first originally bought the O2, it's because I was told by several users on MR2OC to buy that specific one.
In all honesty I haven't tested the current O2 - I was just going to straight up replace it because (assuming the one I was linked to worked) it was cheap to do so. I should probably grab a Multimeter and do the voltage test mentioned in the repair manual. Without trying to sound like a dopey f***, I really don't understand it though.
I might have a look at removing it and cleaning as you said - seems like something worth doing.

Get your hand up there.  Gen3  3SGE  should have a screw in type O2 sensor.  Just have a look.
Take care as you unplug the electrical connecter if it hasn't been open recently.
When you reinstall use a couple of zip ties to prevent the wires getting anywhere near the exhaust.
Why are you messing with the O2 sensor ?
If the O2 sensor is rusted in it is sometimes advisable to remove the exhaust starting from the muffler rather than bugger up the hex or thread as you will have to remove it to get decent access anyway.
That rust you posted is only on the shielding over the exhaust. Vehicle has possibly been parked overnight for extended periods on lawn.  Well advised to put a couple of hose clamps where the originals have disappeared .

Wouldn't know where to put the hose clamps since I can't tell where they used to be. Would you happen to have any photos?
