You would hope to not have to play these stupid parlour games - it either IS or it ISN'T acceptable under the eyes of the ADR's.  If a guy shows me what's "wrong", then I can go away and fix it.  This is a reasonable scenario.
Anyway, am really hoping for someone decent who would hopefully see the lengths I've gone to build my project car, which isn't trying to be illegal in any way...

All together now for friday I want to see crossed fingers, toes, eyes from all of our Forum to will me through it!!  Send in/post your pics in the build htread!!  Hopefully around Friday afternoon (WA time)

Cheers
Daz

I am sure WTF already have a full check list of what to check but here is exactly (Been over pits a few times and has always been good to use the checklist they use) - may use it as a guideline? If not - ignore this post.

Registration Plate/Certificate (Basically Make all plates visable and correctly secured - no cable ties!)
Engine (Oil Leaks, Emissions etc)
Electrical Wiring (Battery to be secure, exposed wiring etc)
Head and Parking Lights (To be working correctly, and appropriately angled)
Side Marker and Clearance Lights
Indicators and Tell Tales
Horn and Windscreen Wiper/Washer (Front/Rear and Water Jets  - Both front to be working)
Stop, Tail and Number Plate Lights
Reflectors and Reverse Lights
Body Work (Including Seats, Seat belts, Mudguards, Doors, Cab, Windows etc)
Mudflaps, 75mm White Strip
Wheel Bearings
Steering and Linkages
King Pins and/or Ball Joints
Suspension and Shock absorbers
Tyres
Exhaust System
Rust (Plate and Fully Weld)
Springs and Chassis/Sub Frame
Transmission and Differential
Bake Lines and Hoses (To be Secured to a manner of ADR approval)
Fuel Tank and Lines (As above)
Seat Belts and Rear Vision Mirror (Test they lock up when pulled)
Foot-brake
Handbrake
Rear Marker Plates
Modifications

The main problem they kicked up a fuss about with indicators was that they didnt have a reflector in it.

Cheers chase_d - some very useful points!  I think WTF will have a checklist but I'll mention this one too when I go down there;  I have a spare set of stock indicators I'll fix for rego - ya never know, they might look ok!!

Cheers

Well fellas...  SUCCESS!!!
YEEaaaaaaaaaaaassss!!!!!!!!!

Got my pits inspection passed with no dramas;  Maximum thanks and respect MUST go to Tristan, Adam and the guys at WTF who reassembled the car, serviced it and changed absolutely anything that had even minor wear - result was really satisfying.  In fact, the guy who took it for a drive said "lovely car mate, drives great - really nice motor".  There was one minor comment, that I should change the side repeaters (smoked) to stock, but the inspectors were both happy to pass it on that basis.

He also said "yeh, these things are a labour of love eh?" - there was a knowing nod, but the satisfaction of driving it on the roads has been immense so far..

Had to take an aftermarket dump pipe out (non-CAT "Aussie" stainless steel branded pipe) so that the stock catalytic converter could go back in.  This will be put up for sale in the FOR SALE section, but just PM me if you're interested in it - the unit is good for a 20 - 30bhp increase in power over the stock unit and it's a swap-out/swap-in mod.  It's at WTF workshop at the moment anyways - am sure if you get in touch with me and we agree a price, it would be no dramas to pick it up from there once cash has exchanged hands!

OK - pics will be coming soon, I'll post a couple of teasers when my dogsh*t vodafone internet connection finally uploads my pics to photobucket..  It's been 2 hours so far for 15 pics...  I'll be sticking up a showroom thread in due course once the paint fixes are satisfactorily resolved and I've had the car detailed..

Many many thanks to everyone who's followed, encouraged and supported this build project -

Dylan Han (Gorilla Industries),
Bruce Sullivan (Fibrevision),
Adrian Tan (KYP)
Tristan Hewitt et al (WTF)
Garrett Katzenstein (Wolfkatz Racing)
Chris Kwong (DB8)
Jon Yee (Just_ace)
Pete (Dozer)

To name just a few - this list is not exhaustive, so thanks to all the forum regulars who provided input and pointed me in the right direction - there are more thanks coming, though there are a few significant items left to finish, so I'll complete the congrats and recommendations once these matters are settled

Now I'm back on the road, I'll be looking forward to meeting a couple of my fellow community members (WA at very least) in a cruise soon - I'll go for a bit of a run today after I get the rego paper work from Licensing Centre and see if I spot any MR2's about!

Mine's the wide one ;)

yeh, my insurance has been rolling since it came off the road - I asked them about bodykits - no problem, also asked them about rims - they just wanted an approximate value - no problem. Ia asked them about brake upgrades, the works - they didn't have an issue, so am still fully insured.  Value will have to change though - am thinking about joining an official car club and going through Shannons.  That way I could ge the car valued - I'd want it insured for $50k minimum...  Might screw  up the premium like, butbetter be safe than very very sorry eh..

Cheers

Congrats Daz! It's great to see hard work like you've put in pay off... and not get picked on by unnecessarily mean inspectors.

Awesome, congrats!!  Looks sensational.

Luckily your carport is on the wide side...

I presume the stock plate doesnt fit the bumper recess and is only temp for now?

Are you going to add anything (girll of some sort?) under the bumber between the exhaust outlets to hide the muffler etc?

Cant wait to see this beast in the flesh!

Cheers

Thanks a lot guys - still wierd to have actually reached this stage - but am defo happy enough;  like i said, few things to sort out which will happen in the next couple of weeks;

Tomorrow is new tyres front, and sort out a slight caster adjustment with WTF to fix a potential clearance issue.  Then it's head down and start this V6 turbo install - all has to be fully engineered/certified as I'm not going to do it without full road legal status.

Cheers

The number plate is just temporarily fixed, as I did not want to screw in self-tappers and fix the old plates to the car in case the mounting holes end up bewing in different positions to the new plates, which come in a couple of weeks - black with white letters, to match the rest of the details, and will be mounted securely in the proper mounting place.  Looks a bit daft at present but it'll do!!

Cheers
