Speaking of nice pics...  Here's the V6 prep so far, note the powder coated red rocker covers to suit the build :)

Cheers

Those rocker covers made me drool. It's good to see that the awesome bodywork will be accompanied by a suitably awesome engine setup.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

Couple more tantalisers..  Rec'd these late last night from the painter;  Can't tell what coat/paint layer they're up to - I've paid for x4 plus clear coat n polish, so shuold come out pretty good - can see the red now, hopefully with successive coats it'll go a bit darker when it dries etc..  Just hanging on now for the phone call - it's actually getting pretty tough to switch off and not think about it!!

Hi All,

Have bought 4 axle stands and a jack...

Ahhh, dazzler, such a long time since that day. Another week won't hurt... too much.

Hahah - Dudeman, spot on pal, though ya don't learn anything by just sitting around umming and aaahing about it eh!! Other highlights I can think of off the top of my head include gaffa tape test fitting, "losing" my jack under th car after taking out the jacking lever, first cut of the dremel into my own car body after about 2-3 weeks of deliberation(!), no living room space for about a month... the list goes on!!

So mate, you have to tell me, where are the intoxicated South Sandwich Islands?!!

Cheers

Another visit, some more pics - still not finished though hopefully completed for next Friday...

The first set of shots were taken on the painter's phone, and are not really clear;  bizarrely, the one's taken from my 8MP camera phone show a pinkish hue to the paint.  It is NOT, I repeat NOT this colour in real life!!!  It is in fact spot on the deep red from the Volkswagen Golf GTi pics I posted up earlier (page 12-13 maybe..);  Proper deep red - apparently it's had 5 coats of base colour and 7 coats of clearcoat. Depth of colour in real life is cool...

19 x 10.5"  with 275/30/19 rears
18 x 8" with 215/40/18 fronts

and fitted:

Hopefully they'll look good with the colour on now and all of the smoked/dark grey touches around the car body.  The big brake calipers are the same colour as the wheels, so am thinking to paint the rear brake calipers the same gun metal/dark grey when I install the brake upgrade to larger disks on extended brackets..

Cheers
