Snowy Mountains 1000

Has anyone been to this event or thinking of going this year?...
http://www.snowymountains1000.com.au/

I'd like to take my car but I think its a little underpowered to be trying for a decent V max, I also need a clutch so not sure that will be done by the time this event runs. I think i'll go anyway just to spectate, be interesting to see if anyone else take their cars though.

cheers.

I have though about it, but don't expect to make it. Any idea on cost? I could not see anything on the website.

Going on the pictures of the cars they are featuring, the Lambo's, Porsches, Nissan GTR's, etc; its probably only the highly paid public servants from nearby Canberra that can afford to enter

Maybe after Mr Abbott makes all the cuts he is promising there might be an opportunity next year for we poorer MR2 owners.

okay, entry for competitors is $175. there are only spots on the Friday available so they said to expect between 5 or 6 runs. each entrant can bring in up to 2 pit crew for free (excluding the driver) and then everyone after that will need to pay spectator fee's. I think the specy's fee's were about $20.

It would be a good chance to really run the car out and see how she goes in the top end of the spectrum while being in a controlled environment. still have a 990m braking zone after the 1km is over so you can take a bit of time to slow down. I'd be keen to ride on one of the big dollar cars there too. take a shot gun run in a lambo or 458!, try and work out what the hell makes them worth more than my house!

Long way to go for 5 run's in the car. Surprised you do not pay a entry then spend a few days doing runs.
The big dollar cars are for people who own towns and decide to spend 10% on their 'collection'. Best of luck to these people!
