Thinking either stock with piggyback hondata, or AEM... have only had a fairly brief look at that side of things though

I like what you are doing. It is a smart mod for the MR2. Just need to transfer some of the suspension system over and you will be hard to catch!

gotta be straight up here, but why bother with the F20 when the K series engines are known to be cheaper and easily get more power than an F series? Also, theyre already east-west mounted engines, the swap would be potentially easier too?

Either way, props to u man, well done on the hard work so far!

K Series motors spin in the wrong direction and would end up producing 5 reverse gears and 1 forward.

nice work! but i think you target weight of 1,000kg is a bit optimistic unless you are prepared to not have doors or any interior!

Thanks for all the ecouragement guys, I know there are probably better routes to go, but most if not all of these routes have been pretty well travelled. -- I want to be unique.

Money wise -- I got the F20c cheap from japan, if I was to do a K-series swap I would require an integra gearbox aswell. All the mounts would be custom, custom shifter cables. etc. With the F20c I can bolt it up to the existing box and fab 2 mounts... thats pretty much it (apart from plumbing and wiring and the custom flywheel). The extra couple of hundred RPM limit appeals to me too.

I'm hoping the engine package will be quite a bit lighter and I'm not running a spare, aircon, or any trim in the boot or frunk. The 1000kg is probably a bit optimistic, but gotta have an aim haha.

Waiwong I bet your spyder is quick, turbo k24, wow

fair enough, if you can get it under 1150kg i would be impressed! after fitting my V6 and E153 i scrapped a lot of ancillaries like aircon, cruise control, fitted carbon boot, removed sterio, lightweight flywheel, fitted lightweight muffler (9kg) and the weight of the car is still around the 1220kg mark. this i believe is because of my large wheels/tyres and added suspension parts (strut braces etc.)

I'll see how I go, I may weigh the car before I build the exhaust and everything just to see where I'm at.... It sounds like 1100kg may be reasonable as I'm sure my engine package will be lighter and E153's are pretty heavy I've heard. I'm running a S54, which are a lot weaker, but a fair bit lighter. I plan to run a carbon boot, engine lid and T-tops down the track, but I just want to get the thing on the road for now...

1000kg is possible. The S54 and the alloy engine will help a lot.
Alloy calipers/two piece rotors/16" wheels/alloy coil overs/trd sway-bars will also help a lot.
Ditch the power steering, abs(if there)and remove every nut and bolt not used and replace whatever is not structural with alloy bolts(can be found in Victoria)..

My old GTS hardtop was 1250kg wet, with a bit of audio gear and the space saver. 1150kg would be easily attainable I reckon but going beyond that would start to become a bit of a chore.
