yep... i got mine from the same place...

code 12 refers to a signal from G- or NE.... having no pin in NE would explain that code.

it's strange, they wired up all of the other things, such as bridging VTA2 and IDL2, but then left out some of the others, there are 5 pins missing on the harness side connector (male pins) and about 8 pins in the wrong place on the ECU side.

i'll have to wait for a reply.... i don't know how to change the male pins, only the female ends.
this is all that is stopping me from changing it over to Gen 3 electronics.

ahhh fcuk that sucks hopefully they can give you a good reply to fix it
i hope mine isn't the same, although from memory at looking at it when i got it i remeber seeing some pins missing from the harness lol might be in the same boat as you

there will definitely be some pins missing, as not all of them are being used.
I used this diagram and matched the part numbers to the two ECUs i have.
http://gt4.mwp.id.au/Electrical/All%203SGTE%20ECU%20Diagram.png

the main ones i think you need to look at are these...
G-, NE, ABS, PS, FC, FPR, PSCT, PIM, VS, VTA, THG

that wiring diagram is pretty damn useful....

Well, the Gen3 conversion is being held up by my wiring adaptor.

However, i am also relocating to Adelaide early next year and am a little concerned about how my car will fare done there.

I will be buying one of the XS power Cat dump pipes.... but i'm also looking to get rid of the HKS 4.5" cannon. in place of twin tips.

Does anyone know of quiet twin tip exhausts? I know it varies from car to car, but i'm only planning minor mods.

FUJITSUBO LEGALIS - gorilla industreis has some for sale right now
they are probably your best bet decently quiet but still sound good
bear in mind running a cat will quieten it down even more.

APEXI super megaphone is a another quiet exhaust but a lot harder to find.

Major update....

Now running on Gen 3 electronics! no more AFM

- my US acquired patch loom was all sorts of messed up. (common wires, such as distributor signal, were just plain missing. I needed to pull apart a water-logged corolla ECU to get some new pins and solder them in)

- The MAT i bought from Berk in the US. It replaced the cold start injector and bolted on the underside of the manifold, near the throttle body
- For the IAT, i simply used the engine bay temp sensor.
- the MAP sensor i acquired from a friend..... quite cheap......
- the Gen 3 ECU i stumbled across on Boostcruising. listed only as a 'MR2 ECU' for $70. the photo showed the part number, it matched the required pn: 89661-17460
- the injectors i am sourcing from MR2OC. (someone there also has a gen 3 pressure sensor for $25..... MAP sensor maybe? - i've asked for that too....)

- I added the MAT and IAT sensors.
IAT was wired to a stripped AFM plug which then plugged into the AFM harness. (THA to E2)
MAT is wired directly through to the patch harness. (THAM to E2)
The IAT harness was the only part of my wiring harness i damaged. i cut the connector off the loom and soldered it to the AFM plug.

- The replacement ignitor was bought off a mate with a few camry spares (he still has one if anyone wants to purchase it for $80 shipped)
part number: 89621-16020

- I bought a basic 3" metal bracket from Repco for $20 to fill the void of the dreaded AFM.

the hardest part was, of course, the patch loom.... although that SHOULDN'T have been a problem if the company actually did what they said they would!
second, was installing the MAT.
third, was working out why my AC was engaging, but the VSV wasn't energising. this meant the AC would come on, and drop the revs.... (useless on idle)
It turned out i just needed to ground one of the wires to get a proper connection. in testing, it would open with 12v and ground to it. from the connector, it had 12v but obviously didn't have a connection to energise it. it is now grounded at the VSV connector, and its all good.

I think that's about all there is to it.

As it stands, my engine is running a bit rough anyway. i am still waiting on a response for a set of Gen 3 injectors... and need to purchase a 4 wire O2 sensor... then, i'll give a report.

it has a HUGE kick around 3800 rpm.... which is not a good thing. it feels as though its pulling the timing. as long as i just baby it a bit... it'll be fine.

One thing to also bear in mind... is that this ECU is tuned for 100 octane.
i'm running RON98, in 30+º temperatures, with 80% humidity.
this is well and truly the WORST case scenario for temperatures.

In other news.... i now have my completely new exhaust system!
consisting of the 3" dump pipe with 120 cell cat that was purchased in our recent group buy.
and the Fujitsubo Legalis R courtesy of Gorilla Industries.

All of this is in preparation for moving to Adelaide in a few months time.

New goodies.....
Gen 3 540cc injectors
Sard FPR.

to be installed this weekend.

The engine is running like crap at the moment.... misfiring quite badly... but because it's such a mix up of gen2/3 there isn't too much i can troubleshoot until i put these bits in and install the heated O2 sensor.

Well, i've installed the other rail with the 540cc injectors in it.
I still need an adapter for the fuel rail to fit the Sard FPR though, so that will come later.

as predicted.... MUCCCHHHHHH BETTER!

it doesn't seem to have TOO much top end with my set up, but it is MUCH torquer than before.
However, i can't tell if its torquer than gen 2, or just loads better than 440cc on gen 3.

the accelerator responds much quicker, the revs seem to almost float when taking off (mildly quick launch meant i slipped the wheels with my Bridgestone Adrenalins... it was wet, but i still hadn't done it that easily before)

so, i still need the gen 3 O2 sensor to complete the conversion... but this is a list of my expenses for the Gen 3 conversion (and obviously all the parts i needed)

Gen 3 ECU - $70
Gen 3 MAP sensor - free
Gen2 to Gen 3 wiring adaptor/patch loom - ~$100 delivered from the US
MAT kit (for cold start injector replacement) - $60
Gen 3 Injectors - $150 from the US
Igniter - $50 (can locate a second one for the same price if anyone needs one)
3" pipe to replace AFM - $15
Pod filter (for testing) - $25

I think thats all...

so all up, i spent $470 in this conversion.

The pros:
-Ditched the AFM
-Can run boost levels to 17psi now without a fuel cut defender
-Smoother and more responsive throttle
-No TVIS (although i'm undecided about whether i will wire up an RPM switch for TVIS or just remove it)
- True plug'n'play for PowerFC when i have the money available.

there may be more Pros that i haven't thought about....
I hope that helps.

Thanks for the warning.... i'll keep an eye on it.
you've installed the bracket too though right?

i'm running a walbro. have been since may last year. (on the stock rail.... which ive recently found out is not a good idea... but i can't do anything about it now.... at all)

heading to Adelaide in a few weeks. the car is booked for transportation on the 16th. in Adelaide on the 18th.

Nice work!!

Where is the dump cracking?

Why cant you run the upgraded pump on the stock fuel rail?

Cheers

Arty - heres some light reading for you. its the Fuel primer done by Wolfkatz. a company in the US that specialise in fuel rails/fuel systems.

http://mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=186974

If you aren't a member... you should be! (but i dont think it will let you see it otherwise)

Thanks Dylan, quite happy with how its going. I need to fix a few things, but that will happen in Adelaide.

I've also just purchased this. To replace the A-pillar Gauge. The next step will be the powerFC and controller to monitor everything else. (not keen on gauges everywhere)
