bit of an update.
i've owned my MR2 for 19 months now and it has about 205,000km on the chassis. bought it with 179,000km.
all i know is that the engine was swapped at some point (proven by the need to get the new engine number off the block when registering it up here)
i've had bolts come loose which meant the cracking of two engine mounts, the blowing of a turbo gasket, and the dumping of gear oil when the axle fell out.
i have had a RIDICULOUS amount of fun with its tight throw shifting, solid Tein coilovers, grip from the RE001 Adrenalins, power from the hiflowed CT26 and 14psi and nice cruises with the roof off and the bass pumping.
I have absolutely no regrets.
It is however, time to pull the poor girl off the road for a bit and get to know her a lot better. one of the hard clutch lines near the front engine mount cracked 6 months ago, so i got Pirtek to make another one up for me. this one has also just cracked.
so, i'm clutchless and need to make up braided replacements of all of the clutch lines (might as well, right?)
as i was driving it home for the last time before the next adventure... i heard a horrible noise from the wheel. bearing time.
The MR2 is heading to a mates shed on wednesday to pull her apart. Engine out
i have the KTBA115 timing belt kit with tensioners and pulleys.
the water pump.
a VRS kit that i picked up off a mate who was sent the gen2 one instead of the gen3 one.
the wheel bearings
replacement engine mounts (polyurethane probably)
polyurethane suspension bushes (including C-arm and swaybar mounts)
ARP head studs
new dizzy cap/rotor
8mm ignition leads
splitfire plugs
and i will also be taking off all of my rubber heater hoses, vacuum lines, and possibly all coolant lines and replacing them with silicone hoses from pirtek. (already have a replaced turbo coolant hose and it seems to be working great)
after all this.... the aim is to be much more aware of where she's at and build up my own service history.
I will be taking plenty of photos and giving myself 2 weeks to do it (in amongst work)
Of course..... i am expecting there will be one or two issues/parts i will need that will probably extend this time.
