Re: Pedal feel after Big brake upgrade

When I sat in the car below. http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/images/articles/featurepics/1789.jpg The owner explained to me that he had tried all different pad combinations. Also upgraded on this and his daily driver to Supra Calipers and Rotors on the front which he found to be better, but one of the Luffs drove his car and smoked the brakes after 3 or 4 laps. In the end he upgraded to AP Racing on both this and his street car. I do like how he actually went, and tried different things. I see a lot of people in general who have tried one method and quick to dismiss everything else as a waste or not as good. Kinda like giving reviews and criticism on a movie you havent watched I think. The owner of that car, went every week or every two weeks to wakefield. If you dont take your car track that often then probably no need. Also bare in mind money was not an obstacle for him. So while he has the time and money to find the best combination money has to offer, most people dont. However I took his advice, after he drove my car and the ABS kept on clicking off on hard braking after 4 or so laps. He told me if I was serious to take his advice. Just saying. Do what is right for your needs and within your budget. Plenty of people here have tried lots of different things so identify what you need, then you can figure out what you have to do. I think the reason why people post on the forum is so they don't have to go through the pain and expense of trying different combinations. They are after advice so they can get it right the first time without wasting money. No point reinventing the wheel each time. The hard thing is peoples advice will vary because there car might have different power to others, wheel sizes, tyre type etc... and in general people have different opinions of what performance is. With the above you haven't mentioned what size supra rotors he was running what series of caliper he was running. Even swapping to AP calipers doesn't say a lot as they make a lot of different calipers and rotors. Would be good to see before and after comparisons of lap times.

I have a video of the owner driving that car at Oran park, then a professional driver. The comparison would be like all of us versus a pro driver. He was a bit of a hack though.

Bumping instead of starting another thread.
I'm embarking on the nissan upgrade at the moment. Trying to find the correct 1" master cylinder to suit. I've found 2 but unsure whether they are correct. JB1878 from 88-91 hilux/4runner
JB1882 from 91-93 hilux/4runner.
A lot of images I find are generic and show the outlet ports on the wrong side.
If anyone can clarify that would be great. I find plenty of mention of using 4runner/hilux but no specific year/model or part number.

I used Lexus IS250 fronts on mine with supra discs and I found that the 1998 master and booster works well The Pistons are slightly bigger than the gen 3 turbo ones

Jb1811 is the number for an abs model. Can check for non abs when I'm back at work but it's basically a non abs version of that same one. (different number obviously)

I hope you also fitted a check valve on your intake manifold if you replaced an early model booster, since later boosters have no check valve mounted on them like the early boosters.

Thanks for the links. I've looke at countless images but I think they are generic.
Are the outlet ports to the calipers on the correct side for the pipes with the 1" cylinders? Images show outlets facing the passenger side where as the factory cylinder faces the drivers side.
Has anyone had issues with re locating the factory pipes to suit?
