RA60 Drift Car - MR2 Heart
Hey everyone
Dont know how much interest everyone will have in this, but I thought I might post it up anyway.
Also since it has alot of MR2 parts, i thought it might be helpful for everyone to have some input/advice
I have a 90' MR2 that I daily drive, but its too nice to destroy at the track drifting, so ive built a couple of track cars, some duds, some went nice, decided it was time for change though, so I swapped the drift ute for a 1983 RA60 celica with a blown head gasket.
Plan was to fix up the dreadful 21r and drive it till it blows then get another one, couple issues arrose out of this though. the head was chemi welded to the block, so reparing it was impossible. ontop of that, a used 21r is more than $650 and super rare, way out of my uni budget
Next to my 2 :)
Decided to worry about engines later, and concentrate on suspension, interior etc
Put in my fixed back and steering wheel. had these in a couple cars. Two things you never sell is your steering wheel and your seat!
Machined up custom coilover sleeves, locking collars and various other things at work. used my old MR2 KYB shocks and some old coilover springs. Just needs paint now
Car got lower. will be lower too, especially once it gets on some 14's or 15's. The car takes some epic size wheels and offsets though, 9 -0 is just flush in the rear!
Got some skid wheels. MR2 is super practical for carrying!
Then my day got better after finding out the gearbox in the car is actually worth a fair bit of money! its a W57 supra gearbox. I then went and organised it to be swapped for a SR20DE with a loom, ecu and a couple other goodies. that deal fell through unfortunately
So there I was with no motor, no money, and 3 weeks left of uni holidays, so i wanted to find somthing
then it hit me, a 3sge would be an awesome, strong motor to put into this thing, the gearbox that I have (with a new bellhousing) will work in rwd format, and I knew where to get one for a really good price.
Picked up the engine last night, got a heap of stuff including half a wiring loom which will help incase I need extra plugs or extra wire etc
And then, I guess the stars aligned. I was talking to my local JDM parts place, and they happened to have a 6 speed altezza gearbox sitting out the back of their shed, mint condition. Conveniently, the guy wanted a supra gearbox, so i had no hesitations in take the altezza box
This is where i'm up to now, i have a growing list of parts and a diminishing wallet :P
Ill put what Im after up here, and if you think you can help, pm me - just be warned it might take me a week or two - maybe more, before I can gather the funds
List so far

Thanks for your input
