I see the nissan brake upgrade fits under GTR wheels up front but does anyone have any idea if it fits under R32 GTST wheels with the reduced offset?

Edit: Actually as the spoke design is the same the clearance should be the same?

Is it possible to purchase the RX7 kit anywhere still for fitment under GTR rear wheels?

Just wanted to update this thread with my review of the product.

What I have:
R32 Front Setup
RX8 Rear Setup

Slotted rotors with EBC Yellowstuff Pads
1 inch master and late model booster
Braided Lines
Avalon Check Valve

Installed the kit in late march, I had dramas as my R32 GTR wheels did not clear the rear calipers which was disappoint. I purchased a set of R32 GTR V-Spec II wheels and had them refurbished, wrapped in Falken RT615K's
TL;DR: Best bang for buck upgrade.

Pedal Feel:
At first it was strange for me, as my old setup was a very firm pedal the whole way through. The pedal is soft for a short while and then gets very firm, and that's when the real stopping happens. Around town, the soft upper section is great as you do not need to lean on the brakes very hard.

On the track, the pedal feels great, and heel-toeing takes some getting used to, but once you find the sweet spot on the pedal, it is easy to manipulate your foot around

Stopping Power:
The stopping power of these brakes are ridiculous. Just unbelievable. As soon as you put your foot past the soft point, you can feel the force of the brakes, just leaning on them slightly. As long as you don't jump on them, they will not lock.

Before I got the brakes engineered, Brakes Plus in Capalaba performed a brake dyno test on the car. The rears locked up due to there being no weight on them, but the rears nearly maxxed out the brake dyno. They were extremely impressed.

Fade:
There is none.

Other comments:
The pads I chose are extremely dusty. My wheels get a light sprinkling of dust, even on my commute to work.
In very cold temperatures, braking power is very limited until they have warmed up. I combat this by tapping the brakes every now and then, just in case.

The setup was EXTREMELY squealy for the first 1000km. I unfortunately did not bed the brakes in correctly, and had to use CRC brake spray on them. After bedding them in properly, most of the noise went away. After another 2-300km of extremely hard stops and abuse, they are now extremely quiet and smooth.

There feels to be some slight warping of the rotor when i first rest my foot on the pedal, but as soon as I lean on it, it goes away. Will have to have the shop check the rotors

Overal:
Best investment I have made in the car so far. 100%.
I am doing a 2GR conversion soon, and you would be mad to not upgrade the brakes to something much bigger when chasing big power. Even an N/A car that sees some track days a few times a year, well worth it.

If anyone has any questions or concerns about the worthiness of this upgrade, feel free to ask me. There are now 3 cars in the Queensland club alone that have this upgrade, so it speaks for itself

Couple pics to follow.

Hi Eric,

If you dont mind saying, what was the total Brake upgrade investment cost?

Its sounds like a great combination.  Of course, most of us here on the forum, Price factor is the biggest concern.

Car / progress looks great BTW :-)

I assume the RX7 kit is no longer available anywhere then? I would like to upgrade the rears with my fronts but dont really want to do away with my R32 GTR wheels which i've only just fitted.

Just for the brake setup (no wheels) it was about 1800 or so. That was all new brake parts and refurbed calipers.

Tiff_lee:-

I do still have RX7 brackets available, but will have to have hub rings machined up for a single set if you were keen to purchase.

The brake discs can be quite expensive to purchase as they are off a special edition FD RX7.

Please PM me if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your feedback, as you say this is bang for buck and speaks for itself.

Hi Ben, as mentioned previously only R32 GTST, 300ZX callipers are suitable for this conversion.

I have some questions about master cylinders.

Firstly some background info:
I have a gen 2 turbo and even though I installed the front and rear big brake kits, I haven't changed the master cylinder since I owned the car. It's possible that the previous owner did change the master cylinder, because the car came with big Wilwood brakes on the front and gen 3 brakes on the rear (which have since been changed to the DeltaV kits front and rear).
I've always been used to the pedal feel with my brakes, so I've never been fussed about it, but I think the pedal is spongier than average. One of the guys at MRC also said that my brake pedal feels a bit too spongy for his liking. This got me thinking about the master cylinder.

I have no idea which master cylinder I have. It only has these markings on the front:
"W8
OD27"
Does anyone know what those marking mean, or does anyone recognise them?

Also:
What's the bore size of the early SW20 brake master cylinder?
What's the bore size of the gen 3 SW20 brake master cylinder?

Thanks!

Hey Rob,

OD27 may be an indication of 27mm - 1.06inches?

I know my pedal is spongy to start with then gets firm, reasonably quickly
