Queensland Raceway DownshiftAus Circuit and Coffee morning

Had a very enjoyable morning on Saturday at Queensland Raceway. There were basically two rules, no passing on corners and dont be stupid. Quite a few cars out from V8's to 1200 Datsuns, but everyone very well behaved. Saw on MR2 SW20 there rego ending in SIV ???? I have some good GoPro footage of me driving behind you and then blasting past you lol....... found I could keep up with the big boys except for straight line speed, but due to there being  loads of cars on the track in the beginning, there were slow around the corners, but it did improve.

I would do this again, just hope the organisers limit or split the numbers next time, so....if you wanted to go do this in a V8 "experience" it would cost you hundreds of dollars, this was $ 60 and you get to do it in your own car - no helmet, just enjoyable, enthusiasts fun. Even my wife enjoyed standing on the pit rail and watching.

Sorry did not make the All Japanese Day, but the rain was terrible and I think the adrenalin was still pumping.....

When I get the chance the footage will be on Youtube, but for now it's only on my facebook.

No speed restrictions, but as I said many cars on the track made for a frustrating time in the corners, but it got easier after a few laps, and was able to "stretch the legs on the straights" just found that very early braking was the order of the day, but thoroughly enjoyable never the less.

How many laps / how much track time did you get in?
Reading the downshift description of the "circuit & coffee morning" I assumed they were just a couple of parade laps.  From your description it sounds like good value for money!

Fred I did not do too many laps, but that was just my choice, there was an hour and a half session and you could drive the whole time. I think it was excellent value for money and I will be back. Not quite parad laps I got up to about 180 on the straights but the corners were much slower.

Dave, you missed a good day out at the All Japanese Day, although it sounds like you had fun . The rain was not a problem at all and the comments from a small boy to his dad about these special cars having two engines (one in the front and one in the back) made it all worthwile.

One point of order about this thread: now that a certain well-known person has crossed to the dark side of the force and purchased a plastic bodied English replica sports car, should we insist that the Forum ID be changed to " Lotuskopf" so unsuspecting newbies dont get caught out in discussions about the merits or otherwise of real cars like MR2's??  LOL
