This is what happens when you throw enough coin at your MR2...

Well, we can only wish...  Though I am pretty sure my MR2 owed me substantially more then this does...

    You lucky lucky b%&#ard!

Was the other one you looked at the silver Cup 240 near Castle Hill?  (Been following your progress on aussielises ). I'd like to join the Lotus fraternity too. One day I probably will!

Yes the other one I looked at was at Castle Hill, its now sold pending final payment (I think he took a deposit from a SA buyer sight unseen).  I went and looked at it though and it looked very tidy and in very good nick.  The guy at castle hill also had an Aston Martin Vanquish in the garage.... too much cash....

One I bought had a little more fruit but a little worse for wear in the condition front, but nothing I cant sort out.  Alot of CF bits on the Cup 260 including the roof and engine compartment cover.  Looks good in the flesh.  Those dark section along the top of the roof and engine cover are actually exposed CF, the rest is painted white.

PS:  Some of the AE crowd have their heads up their arses unfortunately.  Have no mechanical or hands on experience, pay someone else to do their work and then call you a **** **** if you even think you have any idea what you are doing around a motor vehicle.  Haha.  I've met a few very decent blokes also though, so thats good.

Didn't realise the black bits were exposed CF. Looks like a serious weapon, that's for sure.
Actually, I'll bet it IS a serious weapon!  I'm sure you'll have huge fun with it. Could probably scare yourself silly if you tried hard enough too.

Regarding your PS about 'heads up arses' on AE... You're not kidding. There are some complete ****s on there, though I'm sure many reasonable guys too.  I post very little because I'm not in a position to buy a Lotus just yet.
Bid on a 2010 Elise R at an auction recently, but missed out by a couple of thousand bucks. Since then, work has been a bit slow, so all plans are on the backburner for now.

Nice, so you will be bringing this to the Trackday Challenge instead of the EVO?

Good to see you are planning on coming along. You will be in invitational class. If the engine is over 2ltr you will be mod street over 2ltr.
Talk with Dennis and Aaron about the trip to Wakefield. Aaron is rallying for a few of the guys to do a road trip to Wakefield. If I was coming from Qld, I would go via the inland road, through Bathurst, turn off after Orange to Goulburn via the backroad. Excellent drive with a recently sealed road. Its less than two hours from Bathurst.
Looks like you will be enjoying some great drives in the new purchase!

    1.8L but supercharged.

I'll probably tow it down with the landcruiser, saves being stuck if anything goes wrong.   I used to live in Orange and travelled from QLD to there the back way a few times.  Through goondiwindii etc.  Those roads used to be completely ****house.  They would have to have vastly improved to be considered decent, haha.

Good question, I think it may be the SC setup (or could be the DBW) that is already giving me the ****s.  Its a large blower, too large for the engine really and the inlet tract is long.  Most fitment of these blowers mount direct on the manifold and dont have an IC.  These have an IC and associated pipework etc and the TB is mounted pre supercharger.  At the moment when you lift off the throttle and depress the clutch to change gears revs don't drop for quite a period, I dunno, at a guess, probably a second or so before revs start to decrease.  This is epicly annoying, makes it sound like you don't get off the throttle between gears and is likely working the synchros harder then is necessary.  Its either the DBW being gay, or, it could also be due to the large pressurized inlet tract that must allow air to flow somewhere (into the engine, ecus still seeing manifold pressure so keeps feeding it fuel, revs are sustained until air is consumed from the inlet tract).

Annoying as hell, biggest gripe with this car.

In terms of drivability, the post-throttle superchargers make tuning the ECUs on the SSC Lotus cars more difficult, I know this for a fact! It takes a significant amount of time for the engine to consume the post-throttle air when the TB closes, which basically adds a few complications which don't usually exist.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

The back roads from North to Orange are still ' ordinary' but the road highway is good and the road from Oberon to Goulburn is good.
Towing the car sounds like a good idea. Less chance of getting booked!
