WTB: 1991 SW20 3SGTE parts needed, including engine. [MELB]
I just purchased a fairly rough 1991 SW20 GT hardtop with factory 3SGTE and need some parts (and probably advice on what fits). I need: Steering wheel Japanese (JDM) seat belts, stalks and all fastening bolts, spaces etc (my car has funny looking levers in the door jam that retracts the seatbelts further when you open the door). Factory air cleaner housing and all fastening bolts, brackets etc. (Mine is completely gone. Please don't try to convince me to fit a pod filter, that's what I'm getting rid of :). LH door window (may be hard to post) which are apparently a different colour tint than Aust delivered vehicles, mine looks gold Gear shift boot ....and just recently found out i need an engine (rod hanging out the side of the block). Price and availability would be appreciated (and postage).
Thanks in advance :)
Brett.

I have the JDM seatbelts, stalks etc but mine did not have those levers you mentioned. I have the air cleaner housing as well. Hows about $75 + postage (Im in Hobart). Would probably be around $20 for postage.

Are you sure the car that the seatbelts are from don't have those levers in the door jam? I was under the impression all the JDM cars had them, are they from a Gen 2, and do you definitely have all the parts including mounting parts (bolts, spacers etc)? When you say you have the air cleaner housing, i need basically all parts from the AFM, do you have them all (not exactly sure what parts there are as mine is completely missing) including again the mounting parts (bolts, spacers etc)? Thanks.

I have a bare JDM Gen2 3S (GTE) engine block in Melbourne if thats all your after. It still has the crank and main bearings. It has a balancer, oil and water pump also but i would change them, there still on as the balancer bolt is quite stuck, my little rattle gun couldn't undo it and breaker bar wouldn't do it as its on an engine stand, the stand just twists as i try to leaver, so would need a big shops gun. Engine was in good running condition when removed, removed due to building different motor.

Im not sure what you mean by the leavers. Most JDM cars I have seen have a vertical (manual) slider to adjust the position of the belt over the shoulder. I have seen the retractor mechanism on other cars but not on an MR2. I have all the other parts for the air intake, there is a resonance box, air cleaner etc. Im just about to remove them from my car which is 100% stock so I have everything you need.

Ok thanks. I'll take the air cleaner box and associated parts but I'm still not sure about the seat belts. My car is not at my home otherwise I'd take a photo to show you. I'm not talking about anything to do with the seatbelt height or adjustment over the shoulder though. Are you able to open the drivers door and have a look where the "striker" is in the door jam (the piece of metal the door lock closes onto). In that same area there is a (black, i think) lever that you can move with your finger, that's the lever that is attached to the seat belts. If your car has nothing but the striker in that door jam area then i guess the seat belts aren't the same as mine.

Air cleaner, resonator and parts $75 + postage. Let me know if you are still keen. Do you have a photo of what you want with the seatbelts?

Okay, I'm having a bit of a communication problem here. This is what you wrote earlier: "I have the JDM seatbelts, stalks etc but mine did not have those levers you mentioned. I have the air cleaner housing as well. Hows about $75 + postage (Im in Hobart). Would probably be around $20 for postage." Now it seems you're asking $75 just for the air cleaner box and associated parts?? As i said before, the car is not located at my home so I'm unable to take a photo of the seat belt lever in the door jam. Did you check out the link i posted? Were you able to check your door jams for the levers I'm talking about?

If you want the stuff just make me an offer that you think is reasonable. I cant make head or tale of what you want either. I told you I have the sliding levers for the seatbelts, its up to you to work out if this is compatible with you car, its your car mate!

Pat, THE LEVERS the OP is talkign about is this, the black one in the picture on the left all JDM MR2s have them and the seatbelts in the JDM cars will only Lock once the door is closed. when closing the door this lever is also depressed at the same time engaging the seatbelts to lock when pulled hard or in an accident. i believe its made in such a way so occupants can still be retrieved by opening the door which thereby unlocks the seatbelts, allowing easy access for Emergency etc.. the sliding levers Pat is talking about are the normal ones most cars have to adjust the height of the seatbelt. for safety and comfort reasons. That is my understanding anyway. hope this helps. cheers
