You have a list, getting a few quotes should be easy now for comparison
Some of those prices seem quite normal, others you can do yourself very easily for lower cost
Much of that cost appears to be labour.
This would also be a great opportunity to learn about your car. Ask a mechanically minded friend to assist you with doing some of the repairs.

All the suspension stuff could be done in one go, sounds like they are quoting labour for each item individually.

Fuel tank removal seems like a waste of heaps of money unless there is solid junk or rust in there, just drain out the old fuel. Its a big job to remove.

Cooling hoses? Just the ones the need it :D

Otherwise the rest looks ok, it was a non running car.
What about the timing belt? im sure there will be more costs.

    Carless again :(

    I paid 4k for it.

They had the car running of external fuel, it absolutely wont run on whats in there. I do believe how bad the fuel lines are, but the rest :S was kind of a shock.

Get a new fuel pump as well if you are getting the fuel tank removed.

    +1 (1)
Empty the old fuel out of the tank and replace the fuel filter. Put some fuel in and see if it runs.
Injectors can be cleaned down the track.

How long has it been sitting not running?

Are you able to do any of the repairs yourself? Some of the items on your list are pretty expensive but could easily be done in your own garage in your spare time.

Sway bar D bushes - $187 That is way too much. They take minutes to change and don't cost much to buy.
Caster rod bushes - $290 I changed mine the other day when I had the front wheels off. I think I bought them for $20usd plus postage.
Front engine mount - $360  you can buy a brand new one from Toyota or Road n Track (Qld) for like $100. Easy to replace assuming car is on a hoist.
Wiper blades - $24 Just go to K-Mart or some cheap spare parts place and change them yourself. Prob cost you $10

A lot of the parts in that list can be found used here on this forum. exhaust, front struts, exhaust mount, drivers seat, etc

Sounds like this car has had a hard life with poor maintenance.
How long has the fuel been in there and are you sure stale fuel is the reason why it won't run?
As suggested maybe drain the fuel, check the drained fuel for sediment, fit a new filter at the same time, and then see if the motor will run with fresh fuel.

I agree some of those quotes seem way too high.
"Front Sway Bar D Rubbers Are Worn $187" "Front Engine Mount Requires Replacement $360 Aprox"
These both require very little labor and are easy to fit.
For parts you may need definitely try  'Road and Track' Ipswich Qld.

The car sat for just under 2 years with a 3/4 full tank.
I purchased it and 5 months later have finally enough to get it looked at.

Would they take to kind of me outsourcing parts and then saying here...fit them?

All mechanics I have had do work are fine with that. Less waiting and wasting time for them.

From the quotes you have shown, wouldn't hurt to shop around.

Agreed there are a couple of things that seem excessive, like the engine mount especially, but otherwise nothing screams out dodgy mechanic. Labour isn't cheap, and when there's a lot of things that need work it adds up.
That said, this list seems like everything needed to get it back to 100%. A lot of it wouldn't be absolutely necessary in the short term.

i agree with blacky. alot of the things on that list is just to get it back 100%. Something you can do in your own time.

On the issue of fuel, I purchased an AW11 as a project, which had been purchased as a project and as a result had been sitting for well over two years with the same crappy fuel in it when the gearbox **** itself and the 4AGZE started first time. Even a high comp freshly rebuilt 4AGZE started and ran fine with the first sign of some Ultimate. Sounds like there is more than crappy fuel in there.

Get a fresh tank from a wreck. There is the odd one floating around on gumtree, chuck up a wanted ad, you'll be surprised how many back yarders have cars like these without knowing about these forums.

    Those prices are crazy high.
Basically the majority of your front and rear bushes are gone. If you are able to do your own work just buy a complete set of front and rear bushings and change it yourself. If you aren't able to, still buy a full set of front and rear bushings, then have a suspension shop change them, along with your shocks etc....Most of this work could be done one go. I'd change them all to polyurethane if it were my car.

    Hey mate
Prices seem inclusive of labour, depending upon the shop it's a fair quote

You have to remember there outsourcing most of those parts

I work in spares at toyota and would be happy to quote you very good prices on parts
Send me your vin and parts needed in a pm and ill get you good prices and even post them to you

    Also if your keen
I'm doing a twos r us order so you might be able to get cheap parts from there
Happy to put your items on my order if you chip in for postage :)

    Let me know mate
    Sounds as tho
For next time would be wise to have it inspected for that amount of money, and in non running condition I would have hoped it was in better nick ten that :/
