it depends if your asking about SC or NA. if NA then you will get stuff all gains out of doing it. you would get more gains playing with you ignition timing.

if SC there is a few jdm tuing companies that chips the ecu. but getting on of these is a bit rare these days. i doubt uni chip would get you the same results that a blitz chip would have gotton you.

so if you're looking at new chips in australia. not really woth the effort. better results for less elsewhere

Chipping a primitive ECU only goes so far, and yeah as Wiso mentioned the price is pretty high given the rarity.

Better off going with aftermarket standalone ECU, then look at upgrading your spark and fuelling setup. Sequential injection I believe is just a rewire of your current injector plugs if running a standalone, but spark is a bit more complex and depends on which ECU you want etc. A common upgrade is using a 20v dizzy and coilpack conversion. I haven't really looked into the specifics of it though.

Of course engine tuning also greatly helps, but a cheap and easy way of getting more power out of an AW11 is an aftermarket ECU and retune. Exhausts etc. make pretty much no gains on a stock ECU.

Forgive my initial comment - you caught me at a wine moment.

Have a search for Knightrous's MegaSquirt thread, it makes for interesting reading.
