It will need to be blue slipped
After the engine change, then given to the rta or your motor registry
That's what it is in nsw anyway

I have a Na shell with a turbo

    Why tho?
The turbo shells are already 150kg heavier then a Na shell?

I'm not sure you'd need to do anything other than change the eng number at the rego office.  The way I understand the rule (in qld anyway) is that you can use any eng that came in that chassis as long as you change everything, brakes suspension etc, and seeing they are the same...  Best you check with your local transport dept to be sure though.

    I believe so,
I was told the turbo has a lot more bracing?
That's what I have been lead to believe

Well, maybe the bigger gearbox and turbo bits add the extra weight...

I understand that the bits attached to the shell/chassis add to the weight, but as for the shell being heavier is news to me.

I seriously doubt you'll need mod plates/compliance plates for an engine with less power but of same engine type (3S)

You will need to update the states records with the engine number, they are a 'blue slip' in NSW - NFA what they are called up there. (I still keep calling the state body up there 'Dept of Main Roads'...)
