Stock gen3 N/A radiator fit & supply quoted at $900 ?!!

Hi guys,

My radiator (in the '97 N/A MR2) decided to split wide open last week and I've taken it to a mechanic here on the north shore in Sydney.  Dropped the car off Friday and they said they'd call me when they had an idea of pricing etc.

Heard back and they're telling me two things:
1) they're having trouble even sourcing a radiator
2) it's looking like it'll cost around $900.

I've never had to replace an MR2 radiator before but I have for other cars, and that pricing sounds slightly insane to me.  Can anyone tell me what a stock radiator is supposed to cost?  Also, where should I be looking to try and possibly source my own (either reconditioned or new) radiator?  I'm in Sydney if that helps.

Cheers,
morris.

    what the?
I broke my Gen 3 Radiator
i put in a GEN2 radiator slightly smaller (i still have a spare gen 2 at home)
I'm in syd if you want need that radiator
Toy garage only charged me about 1/2 that amount to fit adjust. Just need to adjust the hoses to meet, all seems good so far (touch wood)

"Stock" may be that expensive. But you can easily get an aftermarket for a fraction of the price. The Mishmoto radiators are on ebay for $250, and supposedly are an upgrade. Admittedly that is from the US, but even with postage its significantly cheaper. Don't know many local sources for radiators, but 900 is way too much.

Thats ridiculous, you could get a PWR radiator for that sorta coin or less.  Im not saying you should just putting it into perspective.

There is however a few hours in fitting and bleeding it correctly.

You could track down one from a forum wreck, wrecker or workshop for much less. That price is based on a new stocker, which is exxy I'm sure.

If you get one from eBay just make sure it has the air bleed valve. Not necessary but it would make servicing cleaner and keep the process "OEM"
