B24 Can the VVti be fitted to the non vvti head? Can you fit the vvti cams to the non vvti head? Less torque but more up top.
VVTI components cannot be swapped around.
To get a 1MZ up to 300+HP in NA form is going to take some serious cash and it's then cheaper to go 2GR. However throwing a Turbo on the 1MZ is cheaper then 2GR. 2AZ is a good suggestion, killer little motors them.
kameleon TBH a race car driver could get anything out of anything.
dont forget im a amatuer at best just like Pete :-)
with hundreds of driveline options the simplest will always be the engine it left the factory with as you know.
My point was, the V6 is just as good/quick as the Turbo option at tracks like Wakefield,Winton, Morgan Park but with less chance of problems if driven back to back by the same driver. PI, EC would favour the Turbo for speed and less heat management due to high airflow but a rear mounted turbo would hit the nail on the head in saving the heat issues with the current system. I do appreciate the point of a standard factory set up, but a modified set can be just as good as long as its done right. Something I personally have a lot of trouble with..but Im getting there! Things rattling apart is the biggest pain. If you can stop bolts falling out, your half way there. Until then, you almost feel like you own a Harley..man..

It was a joint venture which i stepped away from, but will be stepping back into it as Im going to add a reasonable amount of motivation, input and parts into the project. Once I got him started he didnt want to stop and really enjoyed himself. Hopefully Mark will be back on the forum but at this stage, Im waving the flag. The engine comes down to cost and a 2GR SC would be out of the budget. I have been in contact with another crew who are building a SW20 with a 2GRFE SC or the 2AZ for endurance racing. They asked for my input which Im looking forward to providing. They want ultralight SW20 so I will also cover the progress on another thread when it all falls into place. This will be ready for the MTC 2014 and W300 2014. Expect this one to be a very serious unit. Trav, I love it! We ran the screamer stright to the road at the W300. Pete said it was shooting flames every which way. Pretty crazy.

On the V6 1MZ NA topic, I'll see if I can dig up some old US Solara threads about using 3MZ heads on a 1MZ block for a 12.9:1 compression ratio. From memory they would modify some of the water galleries and drill additional oil wells for the VVT? I can't remember how much power the setup was claimed to be making or what cams were being used, but it's another option regardless.

Looks like he has to drift it so he can see where he is going, probably couldn't see over that cooler. Loving the passenger wiping crud out of his eye!

I just spoke to someone last night who is building a SW20 circuit car which will be ready for the MTC 2014. 950kg/440hp 2GR V6! Im overseeing the build. I will also start a thread for this one too in the coming weeks. It will be the craziest SW20 in Aus. For this car, Mark had confirmed it will be a 2.2 as the parts are all there and is the easiest/cheapest path. I have the bottom end which will be in the shop by the end of the month. He will be completing the seam weld/prep this weekend. I cant help as Im at Wakefield helping Ian set his SW20 up.

Shmaowzaow! 440hp/950kg!! Gonna take heaps of time and money getting an SW20 down to that weight. 440hp from the 2GR he must be running boost for that sort of power? Water injection FTW!
