Yes it is different

Yes I know this upgraded software is different. It is much better.
You'll get used to it.
Enjoy!

Yes I noticed that on my droid too. I'll check with the developer. It worked ok on the test site. Maybe I missed something

I used to have a bookmark that directed me straight to the 'active posts', but now the behaviour appears to be different for viewing active posts, latest posts, etc.
It looks like the only option now is to click 'Posts' from the menu across the top of the page, then choose an option? No big deal, just wondering.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

I like how PM's now follow on as conversions like modern day smart phones. Makes it super easy to back track through a conversation. Gotta say it's the first forum I've seen that features that :)

Yes he has focussed on modernising this and integrating a lot more with social media.
As an example, you can now log in with your Google, Facebook or Twitter credentials

A couple of observations / questions...

    • Is it slow for everyone, or just me?
    • Will additional skins be available in the future?  I'd prefer something less bubble/icon-like - more compact and faster to render
    • Is there an option to send the body of a PM in an email notification in this version, similar to a thread subscription?

I've found the new forum upgrade has made the forum a bit more snappy for me, less lag between pages and posts are pretty much instant.

Also, is the search function working? I just tried a couple of searches and it couldn't pull any results :(

    • I'm not sure if it is slow. I sometimes think so and other times not. I'll see if there are any tweaks to improve page load times.
    • Yes additional skins will be available. This is a major upgrade to this software and it is brand new, so nobody has had a chance to write more skins for it yet.
    • No. This is by design. Private messages are private! Sending via email isn't secure so that is why the body of the message isn't included in notifications. As an example, my wife can get to my emails though she can't log into the forum.

Makes sense, is it possible to make this a user settable option?  My email is as secure as this forum software, especially when you consider authentication to the forum can be stored in cookies (keep me logged in checkbox).  I find it more convenient to review the contents of a PM via email when using a phone, eg when at the post office confirming an address for a FS item.

After a reboot of the trusty laptop, Chrome seems to be accessing the forum at the same speed as the previous version.  IE10 lags pretty bad though, that maybe by design.

    One more tweak request....
    • When clicking on one of the threads in the "unread" or "active" list, can the link take us to the last page of the thread (or last unread page) rather than the first?

If you click on the green "1 hour ago" (or similar) link, it will do what you ask for.
