Hi all,

Just looking for expression of interest if anyone would like us boys in Adelaide to organise a mid year event at Mallala similar to the MTC track day at Wakefield?

Accommodation is not at track side like Wakefield, but we could look into close caravan parks or likes.

This could work considering the track is central to most states.

If people are keen, we can get some details and go from there.

Mallala link below if anyone would like any info on the track itself.

Sounds like a great idea but the best solution is to start a thread on the option as it could get lost on this one. I had a look at the track and some incar footage. Looks like there is only one track available so you may need to look at some creative options to mix it if you feel like going the way of MTC.
You could do 1: Time attack 2:Hot lap 3: Regularity 4: Passenger runs over two days
or
One day at Mallala and one day at a Hillclimb/driver training centre so we can try more than one track.

Another point before you commit is to contact Knightrous who is quietly planning a day in Queensland so you can co-ordinate your dates so there is plenty of time between the events. Also talk with the Victorian club to see what there program is so you can work together to make sure you get the numbers.

I'm happy to come over and help out of required. If the car is ready, I will bring it over.

Hi Steve,
Try it again now. It should work.
Just upload the spreadsheet as-is. Don't cut and paste the contents.

Adrian will post it up on youtube for you man!
and any other footage i have
My brother took quite alot ahah

my comment,
personally i don't have a real issue with any scoring, although i can understand the fast and more dedicated racers-admins frustration.

Not having a stab at ANYONE here at all,

The way i see it, in the v8s and other racing Leagues the person who wins isn't necessarily the person who made the fastest lap time or even within the top 5 fastest lap times, just the most consistent driver on the day.
So conistancy in my books, out weighs being able to string one-two great lap times and the other 6-7 laps
2-4 seconds slower.

I dont think you should have your fastest lap time as your nominated time.
my reasoning being, the guys on street tyres even some of the cheaper semis 9 laps pushing 100% after about 3-4 laps the tyres have stuff all grip left, not to mention the less experienced guys may not have the ability to concentrate at 100% for 9 laps, as it was close to a 20minute session, and thats quite a lengthy time to be so focused.

I liked the way it was run, perhaps my only issue would be, that the amount of points the REG event holds is a bit to much as it can sway the competition quite easily.

E.G my win i came first in my category, although i am quite happy, however if i were adrian i would feel somewhat cheated, as my own lap times were not the best far from it on the day, basically due to in-experience, however what it came down to was my consistency  in the REG event coming 8th outright. I think the issue was some of the more experienced drivers were a bit to big on selecting their times, and should have gone for a bit more of a conservative selection,  Due to the extra traffic, and being at full peg for 9 laps.

Im over the moon i took 1st place, and hopefully i can give it another good go next year, with some more experience having some more track days, and a more balanced car-i.e semi slicks etc.
and win it without question (however that may be easier said than done) rather than ROB adrian of all his hard work throughout the 2 days due to ONE event.

I think Steve deserves a GREAT rap for putting on an outstanding event. Considering this being the second year his car was unable to run alot of people in the same position would not care if their car could not run and be crushed steve has been very humble and bent over backwards trying to run it as smoothly as possible using the help at hand, and more thank likely again come out at a financial loss.

In closing just wanted to say:
Thanks alot guys, you were all great company, Tri you are a funny dude  great times again! However you seemed somewhat not as competitive as usual,  ADrian you need to slow down so i can try and chase your lines and learn, Trav- nice car, very loud, good couple of chats, and was great to put names to faces, meet new people and have a good chat to them.

Ethan.

I dont feel frustrated or cheated with the results at all mate. You didnt rob anyone. You won it fair and square so well done for sure ethan! I came dead last in the regularity so I certainly didn't expect to win the championship after that.

Yeah let us know when you post up your photos and videos. Should be good viewing.

In relation to Steves earlier comment about some other cars coming out, I've spoken to several of my friends, and if we can organise transport over (as in for the racing cars themselves), we may have 3 or 4 MR2's, possibly an MR-S, the same Corolla, a 180sx (for Steves SR20 love), an MX-5, an EVO 10 and an FD coming over. The owners of all of these cars have expressed interest in joining us (minus the MR2 owners, who already went once :P), after hearing the good word about how well the event was run!
Hopefully we can expect the S.A. crew to be considerably larger next year, and even more competitive than we were previously!

And, unrelated, but I do hope Tri can manage to get into even more photos next year. I think everyone could use some more BEAMS in their lives...

PS: Who got the video of the chilli burgers? I'd like to see that again!
