Happy to have you at the event next year Sebastian. We may need to spend longer talking about overtaking for your sake however.

There is definitely a trick to regularity. Not from my experience but via others who do quite a bit in the Regularity Series at Marulan. Looks like most of the EVOs nominated times quite off their pace because it would be "easy " to achieve. Harder to do than to drive at probably 95% of your best.

Maybe rather then nominating times the regularity time should be based on your fastest lap from the time attack. That way you are trying to drive to achieve your fastest time (I dont think anyone wants to see people get trophies that bend the rules, rather the best driver/car combo's. Since points come from both time attach and regularity people wont try to drive slower in the time attack though if it's so heavily weighted as mentioned by everyone, you wold need to look at taking the wieghting off the regularity so all events are more even to the final score. I can understand why Admin is upset, looking at NATSOFT he was very quick and the regularity can cost you not on driving skill but because of lap traffic that is completely out of your control. So its not liek he was lacking driving skill in the event, it is just totally something out of his hands....anyway if it was me i'd just be happy to make it there and back without incident....

I have no axe to grind over the Regularity issue... just too much time on my hands in my first official week of retirement.
Steve and Aaron went to a lot of effort to prepare a 14 page event/regulations document which clearly set out the events and in particular how the Regularity was to operate. (What do they say? After you stuff it up , read the instructions - IKEA 101). The regulations were lifted from time honoured Regularity Regs and then made easier by not making penalities until you were 1 second above or below your nominated/allocated time. At most events these penalies start for half second variances.

From the Regulations document

Round 4: Regularity
Regularity will be conducted on the full circuit over two sessions with group A/B in session one, group C/D in session two.
Entrants are to be ready on the dummy grid prior to session.
A total of 9 laps will count for scoring of regularity.
The entrant will have a time allocated based on their times in previous session. This will be two seconds slower than the best time set in previous sessions.
Times above and below this time will be accumulated to provide a total ‘time’ from the 9 laps. If you go
1 second below your nominated time, this is 1 second added to your time accumulation. The same goes for exceeding the nominated time.
Time will not be added to your accumulated time for 0.5 seconds either side of your nominated time.
Points will be awarded by who has the lowest time being first place and so on.
Passing is a part of regularity and can be conducted at any point. This must be done in a safe manner with acknowledgement from the vehicle being passed.
The rules were there for months before the event with no complaints. And after the event there are complaints that the rules are unfair? Go figure. Anyone running 1.12s or below read the rules before (or even after the event). Regularity is harder than it first appears and rewards good, consistent driving no matter what vehicle you are in. It is another skillset to add to your driving ability.

Having said that, debate is healthy and the more comments on this site, the greater the publicity for MTC 2015. The MR2 Track day Challenge is an evolving animal and it will only get better as it develops. I am sure the Regularity won't stop anyone coming back next year (Hari-Kari aside) to enjoy this great event. It might even see a few of the more competitive amongst us trying some regularity practice at Wakefield in the next twelve months.

Not that i'm overly worried about the Regularity Event or anything but in responding to the above, those rules are set usually for enduro's like the winton and phillip island 6hr events so lap traffic and all kind of evens out over such a  long time frame. This sounded like it was a 6 lapper so maybe different rules need to apply. Basically depending when your released and behind whom can determine the whole results by the sounds of it. Even with the same rules I think the issue that has got some people upset is the weighting. Sounds like the regularity counts for the majority of the event.

Correct track_mr2. The regularity event and it's scoring is absolutely ok. It is the way the outright placings for the 2 days was calculated that is dodgy due to the way that the regularity result significantly affects the final scoring for all events.
I fully accept my crappy regularity performance.
I have some ideas for a fair scoring system for next year. I'll write them up tonight and post them.

Track_mr2 could you tell by natsoft that there really wasnt traffic in our split regularity session? Didnt think so. I won by not caring about the regularity and chasing a EVO around the track. Go figure?

Maybe you should come yourself and then comment with more knowledge of the event itself.

As mentioned it was told to everyone and its not like the fast guys did not want to win they just nominated incorrect times.

For reference my fastest time was 1:12.54 and the EVO i was following and up the arse of (not the straights obviously) ran a 1:10.9

If someone feels my mid top ten finishes in all events and winning the regularity was unfair send me your address and i will send you the plaque ;)

Maybe from now we could share more positive comments, videos and pictures. Or is this just going to be a constant bitch session?

Ethan- Emily was taking a video when I took her for a spin. Maybe you could load that up when you get a chance?

I dont think anyone is attacking you personally about winning the regularity nor cares if you won or whomever won that event. The times I was talking about on NATSOFT for the sprints have Admin lapping 3 seconds or so faster then you per lap in the sprints. That reflects him as being quiet fast and among the top 3 MR2/driver combinations on the day and he did well in all the times listed on NATSOFT from what I see. However because he stuffed up in the regularity he is completely out of every, basically one event outweights all others.
The point that is being made is that the weightings of the regularity ruined Admins standing for the whole event (and boosted your standings higher mind you). Not that its anything but a first world issue but maybe something that can be looked at for the next event. Personally I've never met Admin nor even know his name so its nothing personal to me, I'm just making an observation and its not an attack on you. If I turned up to event and came last I wouldn't care, don't have anything to prove champ......
