It's a Gen 2, but now running Gen 3 brakes, late model :)
Having done a thorough inspection, it turns out that, while the pads are a no-name brand, the passenger-side rear caliper has seized, and I've lost the seal kit i had for it...
Need a seal kit STAT, rebuild happening on wednesday. If I can't get one, I'll miss out :(

Just 1 week until I'll be on my way down there, exciting!
Steve how is your cylinder head swap going?
Also, what's the earliest that people can arrive on Sunday?

The brakes usually seize on the sliding shafts, not the piston. I have seen it on a few occasions so should be an easy fix. Remove, dismantle everything, clean everything then reassemble what you have using the right lube on the sliding mechanism. Come on, you are almost there!

Rob, its great to see people full of enthusiasm for the trackday. Makes it all worth while. I have just sat down after spending the afternoon working on the car. The head has been replaced, cleaned rebuilt and ready for install but its on hold as I need a new timing belt. Its expected to be here on Tuesday morning, then installed on the Thursday, running on the Thursday night. Biggest hassle is the tune. My tuner said I cannot play with the tune and stated that it could 'lean out' if I push the car. So, I am not out of trouble just yet. Once the car is up and running, I will see what I can come up with. Worst case scenario is having the car running at a reduced pace and boost but it will be there running in some form.

You can get to the track around 2pm but check with some of the other people travelling down to see if you can travel in convoy.
When I have a exact time, I will post when I will be at Campbelltown/M5 and ETA for Wakefield. I am hoping to cross paths with people on the way down.

I have a GEN2 timing belt here that you can have. I assume they are the same as GEN3?

Gen 2 too long, gen 3 is shorter, depends what oil pump gear you are running though, gen 2 and gen 3 are different.  I probably have a gen 3 belt if you cant get one in time but I will require it replaced...

I should also mention that the next Sydney monthly meet is on the 8th of Jan, the day after the trackday challenge.
If any of the interstate guys will still be around, they might want to consider coming along to the meet!
The meet is at Brays Bay Reserve in Rhodes, and always kicks off at 7:30pm. More details can be found in this thread: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=80729

Gaahh so many reasons to extend my stay!! You leave me no choice...
Can I decide on the day if I wanna stay longer? I think you said Wakefield management is very flexible since we have good relationship?
If I remember correctly, my mech got a brake rebuild kit the same day I dropped the car off for a service, maybe ask your mechanic?

Well I had a win today. Joel dropped buy just when I was about to move the Spyder out to start on the concrete under it. He had a bit of a look and with the help of the wiring diagram book was able to get the key start sorted. just a small problem but had not been able to find it before. SO the Spyder will be getting some work done this week not just two days prior like last year. Much happier having that rather than the AW since thats why I have it in the first place.

Do Marulan mdtc.com.au on Wednesday and then off to Sydney for the Wednesday evening meeting at the Brays Bay Reserve.

Unfortunately i was unable to get "The Pearl" finished in time and the shear costs involved with towing and getting that car up and running is far too much for me atm. Currently i am broker than Tree, and that has meant i will be bringing my daily driver instead.

I have a lot of things still yet to do and like most the car is not 100% where it could be (stock brakes for instance...), but i am looking forward to the first outing for my Car Dirk.

Unfortunately there were no Z214 Hankooks in Australia (or RS3's for that matter) So i purchased some A050's instead.

Some pictures:-

95% sure i will see you all there, good luck to anyone who still has work to do!

Right, we're starting to look good now. I need to rebuild one of the calipers. It's completely seized. Have the seal kit, just waiting for the driveway space to jack it up and do it.
Then all I need is to do a service and I should be good to go!

Planning a trip like this is harder than I expected... Having never driven interstate before...

ALSO, if ANYONE has a stock battery clamp for an SW20, I desperately need one for this event. current clamp is literally a bar of steel and a roll of electrical tape, and if there's any scrutineering, it won't pass. I'll be happy to pay for it in site in person :)
Slight problem there...
Other than that, I think I'm pretty set!

I'll be heading down from Sydney on Monday morning for the day if anyone wants to make it a convoy.
Looking forward to it!
