Then again, I'm sure I read that every one that turns up will be fitted up for a class as appropriate, it's all about having fun . . .

What a wise man. All cars are in the "Having Fun" Class. Problem solved. Reflects Admin's sentiments also i am sure until he sees a certain blue and white SW20.

Not that I'm comming to nationals or anything but reading through this post it would be crazy if Tree's car isn't classified in the street class. If v6 conversions are allowed to run in the street class a beams definately should. His car sounds pretty stock aside from running a beams which came in late model MR2's apparently anyway. Nothings his done will increase power should be pretty level pegging with some of the other cars in the class.
The regs didn't say anything about weight reduction from what I can see in the previous thread. If I was running in the street class and cared about winning I would go crazy on weight reductions. Strip that aircon Tree, thats what windows are for.

My fun will be when I am accelerating away from that blue and white SW20 down the straight :-)
All i need to be happy on the day is a car that holds together. I'm sick of building engines now.

It's true, Im not enjoying this issue of the beams engine. First, the V6 street class is group with turbo and sc powered cars with all the creature comforts of factory spec car. The beams has the power of a modified 3sge or a modified 4ge package so it must be considered as a modified street car.
What is the rwkw TREE? Does everything else fit? Tyres, interior etc?
Im yet to confirm which way to go. More debating please.

Admin, don't worry about the strarights, it's the braking points where you will have to work . Im aiming for 200+ before the kink. 1:06 is the goal.
Hope you can keep up!

Ohh I thought there was one class for street cars including turbo's and non-turbos. If Tree is running against the NA unmodified MR2's then that's not fair. He should be runnign against NA moddified 4 cylinder MR2's or be classed with the V6 conversion ones. He has too much extra power to run against the standard factory 4 Cylinder NA MR2's in my opinion. If's there's a modified 4 cylinder NA MR2 class definately belongs in there.

That's what I was thinking but after talking with Charlie in Victoria, he did say the Beams was fitted in the 1998 sw20 which means if someone shows up with a 1998 na sw20 do you put this in mod street? He also opened a can of worms with the v6.
It would be better if he throws on some semis and runs in mod street. Hell, he can give me a few 100 and use ky nt01s if he likes.
I will be running Hoosier R6's so the Nitto's will be moved on. Also going to allow slicks so a fee race cars can run.

At the end of the day, it's about getting together and showing off, banter, driving hard and hanging out together fora few days. Pretty sure we will achieve this again in 2014

I know Trav, but it comes with the territory. As long as there is competition there is debate and its a fair point with Tree's car. As it is the second year, it will evolve more and more.
I'm also allowing circuit cars with full slicks. There will not be any awards as such but they can come and run if they like. In saying that, if 8 cars on slicks just happened to show up, something would be sorted for their group.
In the circuit class, you can run the Hoosier R6 or equivalent tyre. Reason being, they are $800 cheaper (per set) than the A050's and quicker.
I keep clicking over about drifting. Im also reviewing the timetable for the two days. Plan on refining it so less complications.
The entry list will be up tonight when I get home. It has started but needs to be BIGGER to make this work.

Sweet!
Well I was already using them for the first event but it's good that you have officially included them now. As you said, they are such a good-value tyre option and the range of sizes you can get is huge.

It would be cool if you include drifting, but then it means I would have to bring two cars somehow... anyone want to drive up in my 33? lol

I think the classes thing is pretty simple. If the car came with your engine from the factory at one point or another then it doesn't count as modified (i.e Tree is ok in street class). If it didn't come with that engine from factory (e.g. all V6 engines, aw11 with sw20 engines etc...) then it'll be in the modified class.

I think if you had something like having no carpet, in an otherwise non-race spec car (like Dennis), you should be allowed to stay in the modified class. It's not like any of us are actually good enough drivers to get any sort of tangible lap time time advantage from the 1.5kg of missing carpet. We're just having a hoon. We're not running in WTAC or anything so no need to be too strict on the rules. As long as the car is in the spirit of the class it's running in I think that's ok. That's just my thinking anyway. Of course Steve will have the final say on who is in what class and there will be no arguments.

Why not just give Circuit Class free reign and put all the crazy cars in there, including those on slicks?

BTW I jut sent an email to the Hoosier dealer in Sydney asking for prices and whether there is a potential for discounts if we do a group buy of some kind.

Ok. Just put me in mod class and call it a day lol...I might end up using semi's anyways
On the dyno I got 110rwkw, which is a bit lower than a standard redtop beams since I'm running greytop headers but I guess the unfair advantage would be having a better torque curve thanks to VVTi. Beams and V6 should be roughly even so if V6 is tubby class then so be it.
Interior is stock although the factory sub behind passenger seat was already gone when I bought the car. Tyres are stock 15s as stated before. Or did you mean keeping the spare tyre up front?
Just fyi no grudges or anything here, I enjoy these (master) debates because it stimulates the competitive spirit that is deeply rooted in our fundamental nature as men :D (unless it gets out of hand)

You can organise that for the Qld round of the MR2 Trackday Challenge. Two days 4 tracks at Morgan Park . Now that's a plan.
