HMMM looks like I can enter Street class but won't be able to bring the semi's like last year's. Well at least I don't have to waste 9 hours of tread driving down. Yo Lewis/Adrian, Ethan what tyres you fellas gonna be running? (I feel like Niki Lauda asking this question in "Rush" at the start hehe) Braided brake lines, enlarged/baffled sump or oil cooler would still be considered "street" safe right? I mean the stock rubber lines are 23 years old who knows when they'll pop lol; the sump is insurance from rebuild and oil cooler to keep her running happy all day - hardly considered "performance" mods right? RIGHT? Other than that it's just springs+shocks and Beams engine which is more "stock" than a 3.0L V6. Verdict?

Tree, I will check the reg's when I get home from work. The mods for safety are ok (for street class)with me but need to check the engine. If Knightrous can see it should be in Mod Street, he is not often wrong. Send through all your mods so I can check it. No matter, if Adrian makes it (depends on work) he will beat you again and Aaron will drive you crazy, so you will be eating chilli again! Ian will be bringing the turbo so he will be doing 10's all day. He will keep the Supra honest.

I'm planning on picking up some AO50's in the next couple of weeks so if I can make the event, that's what I'll be running. I'll also be getting some super hard street tyres to replace my current ku36's. I'll drive down on them so I will probably do a few sessions on them just for fun. Bring the semi slicks Tree! See if anyone from Vic is coming up on a trailer and throw the semi slicks on with them.

Engine swap = modified - then how come V6's can be considered street? Mods (honest): - Poly bushings (twos r us)
- Delta V Sway bar plates (with stock sway bars, insurance but adds weight
) - brakes: stock, good street pads and fluid
- Wheel/tyre size: stock alloy 15's. Aaron aren't you running 16s or something?
To be fitted: - aftermarket shocks and springs, not even coils :P
- Rev 5 OEM speed flaps
- Rev 3 front lip
- Front undertray tore off last year driving to 2013 MTC on the freeway so I'll be making a metal sheet
- Maybe A/C (it will finally get rid of that annoying bearing whine + beat the heat lol)
- Enlarged/Baffled sump (insurance)
- Maybe oil cooler
- Braided brake lines
- Deep dish steering wheel
- Cup holders (seriously..)
- Aerodynamic wiper blades loool (extra 1rwkw @ 150km/h)
Anyways sounds to me like you guys are afraid I might dominate the street class LOL jkss. Well put me in whatever class, it's the flying lap that ultimately counts! Aaron you were faster than me last year by a bee's d1ck, and that was me on stock suspension, I think you will find reality somewhat very different to your imagination hohohoho (troll face). How do you guys reckon AD08Rs stack up to A048/A050? I was planning on downgrading the A048s to AD08R which would theoratically knock me down to street class (depending on the officials final decision). And they're cheaper lol (I think I said it a million times now but not in the best financial position) But if "Lewis" is bringing semi's I just might have no choice but to even the grounds!!!

Consensus seems to be that the best available tyre at the moment is the Yokohama A050. Hankooks are also quick tyre but supposedly not as durable as the Yokos. A050s are pricy but Greg Nolan (Suspension Concepts and Nolathane fame) reckons they are worth 3 to 4secs over A048 at Wakefield (and he doesn't sell tyres). He described them as slicks with tread but also good in wet. If so the price premium over other semis is probably a relatively cheap performance improvement. Tree, can you afford to give Lewis that much advantage as I am sure I read earlier he is spending cash from his new job on A50s? Unfortunately for me I just bougt a new set of tyres before talking to Greg Nolan. Adrian. Get greg Nolan to heat cycle your tyres. $25 a tyre and he claims that they perform almost as well as new until you have to throw away the tyres because you can see the canvas. No need to hit and miss heat cycle the tyres at the track.

It's not hard to beat a A048. They are cr8p. I bought a set a while ago and they are the worst tyres I have ever had. If you want no grip get A048!

No way the ao50 would have 3-4 secs on the ao48. It'll be more like a 1 sec difference. Going from a good street tyre to a semi slick is normally a 2 sec difference.
The ad08r is meant to be awesome. Halfway between the regular ad08 and the ao50. Probably the fastest street tyre you can buy.
V6 powered cars wouldn't be in street class would they? I'd have though an engine swap would count as a modification.

It's an engine swap with a motor that never came in the car from factory, it's modified :)

I have a standard Toyota Aurion 3.5 litre V6. It just happens to have and E153 box, Quaife LSD and a caged and partly stripped SW20 body bolted to it. Lucky it has no number plates or I could be a very confused old man.

I'm seeing the "discussion" about this should be in this class, and that should be in that class, and I'm thinking I'm glad I'm not Steve. I'm also thinking, what class is my little car heading for. SC (so technically over 2.0l) Nevo pulley (Modified Street), no carpet (Track?) but no cage yet (not Track?) Then again, I'm sure I read that every one that turns up will be fitted up for a class as appropriate, it's all about having fun . . .
