The idea of cruising the track at a slow speed then a hit up the straight will appeal to a lot of the street cruisers. They can have a club cruise to the track, lunch, enjoy the backroads around Wakefield (there are some nice quite roads around the area which are great for photo shots), show up after 12pm, park and show their cars in the open garages, sign in, come and meet everyone, have a cruise session, then the UTC photo shoot, bbq, party on with all the competitors and crew, then a few more sessions on the Tuesday before heading home after the presentation.
A few awards can be organised but this is something I would like to see the clubs get involved in (managing a show and shine) as I have enough on my plate.

Sounds fun, thinking about it.........................
Googled where it is & it's not as far as I thought.

Hope you can make it Shaz.
It's very easy going and a lot of fun. MR2QIK was the only cruiser last year and he had a great time meeting up with the everyone and doing a lap for the photo shoot. Would be great to see a lot more in 2014.

Cheers

If MR2QIK is so quick, why wasn't he on the track?

Easy to answer.Because his car is too pretty. (and if there are any Evos there it could get stone chips or dust on it)

MR2QIK has done the circuit driving in the past and is not interested in driving his car 'that way' anymore.
This is why the option (cruise sessions, show and shine) is being floated.
Owners (like Jay) and all the people who do the organised country drives, Club events, dinners, WTAC, F1, Wednesday night meets, etc can:
Meet up with fellow MR2 owners via a organised cruise to the track , have a chat, show of the car, show the stereo system, whatever, then enjoy a drive on the track with some good spirited blasts up the straight then cruise around the rest of the track.
They will be able to enjoy everything we do over the two days. Difference being, they are participating as a street cruiser, social participant in non competitive, non speed sessions.

Some info:
I inquired about a dyno for a dyno shootout, but its not cost effective.

Burstmode is keen on doing the photography for 2014. They work for the guys who won the Wakefield 300 this year. They are also building a 3.5 supercharged, SW20 hardtop. Light weight, cage etc to enter UTC 2014.
The reg's will be reviewed (yet again) to fit the V6 into the equation. The 3.0 V6 will be in over 2.0ltr Street with the stock turbo's. The 3.5ltr and supercharged 3.0ltr will be with the over 2.0ltr Modified Street.

The four layouts will be used again in 2014. If Wakefield surface a certain dirt access road to the left of the circuit, it will be added to the tarmac or hillclimb. Its a right, left, right, left combination heading up the hill towards turn four.

The first row of open garages will be for show and shine, guest MR2's If its a clear day, they will be set out on the grass area behind the pit lane garages which finishes outside the cafe. Cars always look good on the grass! There is access to the very top of the hill on the right of the circuit for people interested in a photo shoot up there. Access is good.

You can do a track walk or ride the track on a bike after the track is closed to cars. It is daylight savings, so you will have a few hours to experience the track walk.
If enough people are interested, we can organise a local driver trainer to provide a guide on the track walk. Quite useful for improving diving skills.

There are 60 beds available at the track so you can bring partners, friends, kids. If this fills up, next door has accommodation for about 60 more people. The Bakery Motel has offered a good rate for us($100) per room. Its 10 min from the track.

Cheers

Great to see you will be there Dylan. Are you driving in the UTC, looking at the cruise sessions or of an official status?

I have just confirmed the cruise sessions with Wakefield Park.
The sessions will be in the afternoon from 4-6pm.
These will alternate with photo sessions and perhaps some other activities.
The main straight photo will also be back.
The sessions will be controlled by a pace car.
Helmets will not be required.
Competition licenses will not be required.
Will confirm if I can nominate the pace car. Even so, the speed limit will be 70km/h with the option accelerate hard between selected points.
If this is abused, the people responsible will be removed from the session. This for two reasons: Safety (of each other) and respect( of the track management and each other).
Really would be great to see all the people who are not into the track scene, doing some cruise laps.

Cheers

I have spent a number of hours refining the regulations and format for 2014. It is almost completed but would like to spend a little more time getting it right.

The cruise session's for non-speed(non-competitive) entries has been added to the program.
The cruise session package will consist of: weigh-in of your car, dedicated parking in the open garages opposite the Café, cruise laps, passenger pass, access to on track photo session on the Monday afternoon, BBQ and accommodation in the cabins located at Wakefield Park. There will be a show and shine which I would like the MR2 Club/club's to manage. This mean's classes, timing for judging, people's choice awards, designs for plaques, organized run's to the trackday and whatever else is required to make it complete.

The classes have been tidied up. You can bring any MR2 you have no matter what the spec as there will be a class for you. The regularity will be structured on time instead of points which helps with the overall scoring system which will be used.
Everything is planned out for 4 groups with up to 60 entries. This is the maximum  number of entries into the MTC.
45 MR2's and 15 invited cars with preference to Toyota's.

The best news so far is the MTC has been supported by the MR2 Club of Victoria. Thank you for promoting the event and I hope to see many more Victorian's in at MTC in 2014.

I have completed the information pack, the options for entry and the new account will be finished next week. Payment options will include Paypal, Credit Card, direct deposit and cash(if you are in Sydney).
I hope people are not confused with the three classes or feel they will not fit into any class but it is structured so you will. The street class has opened up to allow minor mods with modified street taking on the more heavily modded cars. The circuit class is the same a last year.
Another change I am considering for 2014 will be grouping experienced drivers together and newbies in their own group.
There are 4 cruise sessions allowing for people to experience the track at a refined pace. There are also enough passenger sessions for all to enjoy a lap around the track at speed. Its up to the people looking for a passenger run in another car to organise this. I have allowed for a show and shine and undercover parking for those interested in this package but I will not be organising a Show and Shine or a 'run' to the track. This will need to be taken on board by a few individuals or managed by one or more of the MR2 Clubs.
There is a early bird payment option which expires on the 1st of November 2013.

I'm unfortunately between classes again due to a few areas, but I'm quite a long way off Circuit Class spec.

Modified Street class:
- Tyre rating must not to exceed 110. Semi slicks are allowed.
Slicks are not allowed. I run Toyo R888 semi's, they are 100 rated like most other cheap semi slicks.

- OEM gearbox must be retained.LSD and gearset are free. No straight cut gearsets.
My gearbox is a hybrid. It's a factory C52 5 speed bell housing and center case, with a C60 6 speed gear set with a C60 helical LSD and a C60 end casing. Is this considered OEM since it's made from OEM parts, or is it a rule breaker?

- Recognised body kits allowed (Border, DuLuck, TRD, etc). No body kit to exceed 60mm beyond
OEM width or 60mm OEM length of vehicle. Does this include guard flares?

- Exception to interior requirements includes; removal of passenger seat, installation of Approved aftermarket fixed seats in both driver and passenger’s location, installation of 4 point or 5 point harness. I have no carpets, but retain factory dash, center console, door skins and pillar trims.

Am I Street Modified or Circuit class

You are in Modified Street Knightrous.
The gearbox rule is to stop sequential gearboxes or straight cut gearsets in street classes. Mixing gears or close ratio gears is ok.
I will adjust the tyre rule as I didn't realize these common tyres were such a low compound. Btw, mine are 110 but will have new tyres for the meet.
The flared guards are ok, but you should put a half cage in it and a harness and go for Circuit under 2.0ltr. At least you can pass anywhere and have a good chance of taking out the class.
I will go over the reg's again this weekend to tune a little more.
