Club Run Sunday 17th of March 2013 - Moody's Valley Madness
SECOND RUN FOR 2013 The second run for this year will be held as previously advised on Sunday the 17th of March 2013, in keeping with our policy of the third Sunday of each month.
As we went north in February we are going south west in March. Originally we thought that crossing the border into NSW would be a good idea, but recent heavy rains in the area means that not all the roads in NSW are up to their usual standard. However, we have discovered some great twisties just north of the range in our own state and it's time we gave these the MR2 tick of approval.
So, the Run on the 17th of March will start at 9.30am for a 10.00am departure.
The meeting point is the Shell Servo car park at Jimboomba on the left hand side of the Mt Lindsay Highwaypoint (Route 13) heading towards Beaudesert. From there we will be driving south towards Christmas Creek and then west past Mt Barney to Lake Maroon for lunch.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is unfortunately no-where at Lake Maroon to buy lunch so we either have to bring our own from home, or buy something at the meeting place. To make up for lack of food amenities there will be the famous Club cake provided at the lunch spot.
After lunch we will travel further west and then turn north west towards home, aiming to come back in through Ipswich. The complete route will be recce'd in detail this coming Saturday and final details will be sent out via individual PM a few days before the Run.
As per normal Club SOP the Roll Call is below, so cancel the sleep-in and we look forward to seeing you there. It promises to be an interesting day with some great photo opportunities. As it's also St Patrick's Day there will be a prize for the best Irish-themed car and driver/observer (we don't have passengers in MR2's). Originality will be rewarded, the judges decision is final, and just wearing green-coloured undies like Roar Power does will not count as part of the dress-up.

Having a green car could certainly be a distinct advantage in this competiton.
Just another reminder about the Nationals in Tasmania in late September/early October this year. The Nationals promises to be a great event and the roads in Tassie are certainly worth the trip. Although it's probably a 5000km round trip I hope we can again out-do NSW with numbers attending as we did in 2011. Hock everything you can to get there, it promises to be one of the best MR2 events this decade.
