Revs check on an import???

Ok guys found a turbo model everything is sweet
Stock, new engine gearbox
Few minor issues but nothing a little tlc can't fix
However trying to do a revs check is impossible
It's days the vin or rego details are not in the system?

The car is a 92 import
It's got rego on it and rego papers match the vin on te car
However it's not the standard
Jt763xxxx
It's the compliance vin
6a1mportxxx

And the compliance plate is over the top of the old chassis number

So is that normal for a revs check to be unable to be done or..
How else can I find out about the car.
Go to the rta?
Also the car is located in nsw and is Regod in nsw
Please help.

Doood... Slow down, take a breath, speak English....

I guess its possible an online check may not be possible with 'import' as part of the vin, call them during office hours they should be able to help out with a revs check.

If as you say the car has nsw rego it wont be too hard for them to locate. If you get a dead end with the operator, try again later with someone who may actually try and make an effort for you.

I can't understand why the import compliance plate would be over the top of the original vin. Dont forget the factory id which you will find on the front leading wall above the front spare.

Just chill, there's no rush. Nice cars are there to be found by the right people grasshopper. Those who get caught in the rush may find themselves confused by bent chassis...

Generally the import compliance number is just the Vin with some extra numbers in front.

You should be able to get a revs check using whatever numbers are on the rego papers tho, as thats what should be in the system....

Did you try and enter the cars plate number into this system? https://www.myrta.com/wps/portal/extvp/myrta/rego/check-reg-history/!ut/p/b1/04_SjzSzMDGwNDUxNNOP0I_KSyzLTE8syczPS8wB8aPM4g08XAPCQo3MDQ2CPc0MPJ1Cw_zDHI0N3Y1NgAoiQQpwAEcDvPrNjCnTD7TfSz8qtzIoxFE_XD8KohaPUXgN8zAnoADoWj-P_NxU_UigMnPcjjLVD9GP9CCkylw_NyrHzSI7MyCjyNQRAIZ6kws!/

Once it has bought up the car details you'll see the last four digits of the VIN as well as a whole heap of other information. Then you can pay the $18 for the full report if required.

Or is that what you tried and it didn't work?

Call them & it'll work. Any car that is/was registered, can have money owed against it.

REVs doesn't exist anymore. It was replaced by a national database called the PPSR (personal property securities register) in 2012. I think they refer to them as PPSR Checks now. The cheapest one I've found was on a website called getppsr.com.au for $8.95. They email you a PPSR certificate that has encumbrances, write-off history and stolen vehicle status. They also give you an on screen summary which is pretty handy if you're on your mobile.

There is still a company called revs that does a ppsr, used them recently. Quite a good report.

When on the website make sure to select grey import when prompted.

It usually comes up in the order:
What is it - Car, trailer etc then Is it Pre or Post 89 Model then is it a grey import. Click yes and you should get a match.

    Worked for me.
