Gearbox oil in desperate need

So Im in desperate need of proper gearbox oil
Long story short asked mechanic to out gl4 in it
Out gl5 in It was crap
Only stuff I could get was 80 smooth shift gl4 but its going on Sunday for the ultimate track day at Wakefield so need some proper 75-90/95 gl 4 been everywhere no where has any gl4
Anyone recommend me good performance oil to be given a bit of a hard time on the track? Please

If not is anyone able to get me some and bring it to goulbourne really would like some amsoil gl4 but doubt it no one has any..
I will pay them upon getting it?
Very desperate

Like they say if it ain't broke don't fix it really dreading changing it in te first place.

I have no experience with gearbox oil, but I just had a look at this and found it interesting, especially after reading about the issues you've had recently:

Yeah that makes it a little clearer hence why it was a pain to engage 2nd on downshifts

ATM it has gl4 80 in it but I don't trust it being a little lower then recommended, especially given a hard time on the track
Every now and then it crunches downshifting to 2nd at 2800-3200 rpm so it's a bit too light when warmed up for my liking

Why don't you ask MR2QIK where he buys the oil? Its from a Castrol service station somewhere.

Call the local Caltex distributor and ask them where you can buy the 75w90 gl4, they will tell you who stocks it.

If you get stuck, you can always heel/toe double declutch and then it wont crunch, will be less unsettling for the car too.

    Cheers

Gatesy, I'm in the same boat. MR2QIK says he gets it from Caltex in Penrith, Corner of Castlereagh Rd & Coreen Ave. They have plenty in stock (even sell barrels).
I was going to live with the 75/90 GL5 in mine as it feels the same (meaning it probably was similar stuff in there before), it's a bit notchy but I'm used to it.
If you went down on Sunday and could do the detour, I'd be happy to split a 10L with you...
Penrith is miles from my place, and I'm driving down early Monday.

If you're talking about Nulon SAE 80 'smooth shift' ive been using it for a while and given it hell in the twisties and its been great, shifts perfect if you know how to heel and toe properly (which you should be doing if you're pushing hard).
It should be fine for the track, id just try and see how it goes.

well you shouldn't really HAVE to do it in traffic (i don't) like I said only when you're pushing hard...unless your synchros are that bad?

Hey I am in Penrith and know the servo. I dont mind ducking over and grabbing you what you need if you let me know for sure which one and what size. I can even go now as the air con in the car will be better than being in the house.
