Don't buy a chery or whatever that ting is, they are terrible. And like an aluminium can in a crash. You could be buying a lot more problems with that black rev1, if it has set around for a long time a lot of the seals in just about everything may have given up.

Went for a bit of a drive this afternoon. Didn't feel quite as bad as yesterday, but there were still a few times when i felt like I was forcing the issue going into 1st & 2nd. So will play passenger on the Old Pac run. Anyone got a bushing kit available? Freight is more than the kit itself. Or is anyone wanting to order anything from Twosrus? https://twosrus.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=949&fbclid=IwAR3lb8l4eCE7Z0vHEkTWjkq21Ru5yrlvRB21uWo1XnB-NOKTbqtDoPRgAIU Decision has been made to keep MR2 but as weekend car & buy something else for daily use. With almost 300k on the clock & 29YO, she deserves a rest. A small manageable debt is less stressful than worrying every time something goes wrong & needing to borrow a car. Even when it is an inexpensive fix, I don't have the know how to do it myself, so if I have something else to drive, she can wait until a knowledgeable MR2 friend/mechanic has the time. It means the re-spray will have to wait quite a lot longer, but aahhh well,..... as a dear departed friend used to say "ya get that".

Not sure about Chinese, especially if I'd have to give them measurements. At least with twosrus they are exactly the right thing.

I purchased my spherical kit from https://mr2wreckers.com.au/ as they are/were the Australian supplier of the CRW kits. Perhaps they still have some kits in stock?

I bought 2 spherical bearings (p/n GEBK8S) from Industrial Bearings in Padstow for $26.40. They seem to fit ok and work fine.

wasn't really serious about the Chery or the black rev1.

Just bearings. That's all I needed. I did make up some small steel tubes to go each side of the bearings but you probably would still have some thing like this already on the end of your cables.

Yes it is a bit of a change, especially being an Auto too. loses power going up long inclines. But at least I have something of my own to drive when the MR2 is off the road. Sperical bearings put in last week, but didn't fix the problem . Daniel suggested taking her to Newcastle Gearbox & Diff. She drove mostly fine from Mum's to home, then to work, then to Broadmeadow. She did the thing when they test drove & they have determined that it is the side/side cable but not on the gearbox end. I asked if they could put the original back in, but they don't usually do that sort of stuff, weren't keen on taking the interior bits apart, plus don't have any spare time for the next couple of weeks. The side/side cable that was taken out was ok, so will look to having that put back. Mine was a white banded cable & the replacement was red, altho I had been assured that they both came out of the same NA MR2. Mechanic said he checked & they appeared to be the same, so............. maybe not quite. Picked her back up this afternoon (no charge) & the drive back to mum's was very painful , but at least I knew what to do to get to my required destination. Don't panic, move gearstick around in neutral & then put in gear. But it was 5pm & there was a bit of traffic around, so wanted to be quick, so someone didn't run up my butt, didn't always work took off in 2nd a few times & sometimes couldn't go into 2nd from 1st, so went straight to 3rd. Luckily no hill starts. And She'll probably be mostly fine next time. ggrrrr

Good to know you can at least test by re-installing the side to side cable, I'm sure your local mechanic would be able to do that. Does mean another $140 in labour or so but if it fixes the problem then happy days.
