Thanks Carmikey. Someone local has a set available if one of them has snapped.

Ok, considering my options. Used with unknown KM $80 or New Adjustable from MR2 Heaven Approx $320 Does anyone have any experience with the adjustable cables.

Just grab some from a local source. It's not like these cables break regularly (especially on an NA)

Yep just get second hand. But have you actually checked if it is a broken cable or just a missing securing clip. The (C ) clips at the gearbox end of the outer cable can dislodge if not fully driven home properly.

mechanic has confirmed broken. will need to check with him today if it is the green one. Just found out the local set are 1 green & 1 red. Does anyone know if NA set were sometimes red?

Shaz, doesn't really matter which color band is on the cables, as long as the length is the same as the one you u are replacing.

That MR2 heaven mob - well heaven is said to be sky high, I think those prices are somewhere quite above that...

Baby's back home. Was originally scheduled for next Tuesday, but I received a call around 3pm yesterday to say she was ready to go. They'd had a couple of cancellations, so I was glad I'd been able to drop the cables to them yesterday morning. And the 1 1/2 hrs labour cost was better than I expected. I went with the $80 used set from someone local after 4 trusted people said they should be ok. Now to get used to driving her again, after driving the ADUB for 3 weeks. Gears seem to be closer. I guess if the cable was stretched, on it's way to snapping, that would make sense. Going down the gears was no problem, but going into 1st from stop & up to 2nd was a bit tricky for the first 15 minute drive. Managed to go straight from 1st to 4th, oops . But have worked out that with a little bit of left pressure when going into 1st & 2nd, it works just fine.

Off the road again. she doesn't want to go into 1st & 2nd now. Feels like something stopping gearshift going over far enough. And there looks like some sort of fluid/oil under the gearshift area. Should I put a bid on this. https://www.shannons.com....aqwJGm2qU8SZQStOWrrr_M

But there could be a reason it's not registered. Plus don't have that kinda $$$ Was looking here, for this kind of priced things. Never even heard of this one. https://www.carsguide.com.au/cars-for-sale/D_10269105/CHERY--J1--NSW+-+Newcastle--KURRI+KURRI+2327,+NSW--Hatchback?searchKey=cg_s.02496a9adadf3c6b5b82ed1ad9e9328f#pos5 Marco Mechanic was perplexed. Called Doug, was still frustrated & swearing. My Taxi arrived before he finished. He had a break. But obviously wasn't going to give up. AAHHHH stressing for nothing. I just got the call to say she is good to go. No Charge. & they are sending someone to pick me up from home. Thankfully I had taken the still good cable in case he had to put it back in. Because apparently there was a bush that was a slightly different shape. So I'm guessing the different part numbers for one of the cables between the early & later models means there is a difference in the shape of one of the bushes. Will go for a drive around town to make doubly sure everything is ok, before going on the Old Pac club run on Sunday.

should have waited to post until I had her back & driven around for a while. The Bushing wasn't made in a different shape, it was worn & no longer completely round & probably not a snug fit for the cable?. Still feels quite notchy going into 1 & 2. Sometimes Feels like I am forcing it into 1st from stop & then up to 2nd. Maybe needs "new bushing rebuild kit"? (Doug told me that) Maybe I need to bring her to Peter Garrad's shed & have friends do a complete overhaul, & I can visit, lol. or maybe tuck her up in mum's garage for a while. All this....... nooooo, yay, nooooo is making me feel ill.
