Thanks Matt, Wrapping has crossed my mind, but don't think you get the shine like paint, do you? And I think the prep is probably a lot of the cost too. Don't confuse me, lol Still got a few months before I get it done.

You can get wrapped cars that have a metallic finish on them, it's definatley not the same as paint but I think it can look better sometimes and the price is right compared to a re-spray. Check out this Mercedes done in a gloss wrap: I don't actually mind the matte finish of a wrap either:

Wraps can look cool, but they aren't a long term prospect like a good paint job.

The thing with a wrap is a really good one will cost as much as most of the cheaper closed door resprays. On top of that you need a really good paint surface to apply it to because if there are dips and ridges in the paint from chips or paint flaking like on your car shaz you will still see those lines and dimples showing through under the wrap.

Yeah, I thought the surface had to be very good for a wrap. Plus I want to keep the same colour. I had briefly thought about a wrap earlier, but have since changed my mind.

Passenger seat is matched. He also took the seat part off & put more foam in the sitting part of the bolster. V Happy.

Glad to hear it, last time we spoke about it your mechanic was wondering about your condenser. I assume they kept it in and it works fine? Uber is a fun service when they know how to drive haha, what car was it? and yep small world.

Yeah I forgot to mention the condenser to them. But thought if there was a problem they would find it anyway. Was very happy when I called them at 3.30 to see how they were going & was told she was ready to go & was the price they had quoted me $440 including gas. Can't remember what car the uber car was, they guy's name was Chris. The car his house mate, Martin, has is a very loud red sdub. We met Martin a couple of years ago, think it was before you started coming. We drove to Swansea. He is now living in Sydney.

I need to get my AC seen to as well, my compressor is on its very last legs starting to whine quite bad so I may need to contact Josh and see if he has some more AC compressors.

Yep he said he has quite a few compressors. And Mitch will make sure NAE looks after your baby.

hhmmm, need to re-think re-spray. Could be another year or 2, depending on what other repairs need to be done between now & then. went to 2 of the suggested places today. 1. $10 - 15K and 2 months, but couldn't do it for at least 12 months. 2. $6 - 10k and 1 month, but not for at least 6 months. They both said sometimes once the job is started things are picked up that need fixing that were unable to be seen until things started coming off, etc. I didn't realise that a "Closed Door" respray still involved taking windows out, etc, etc, Both back to bare metal, otherwise they don't know what they are painting over, meaning rust having spread under the paint from a spot that can be seen, etc & no guarantee that it wouldn't start lifting/peeling again in a couple of years. Spent a bit of time talking to the 2nd one while he explained why this & why that.......... made sense. He even took me out to the workshop & showed me a few examples.

Gee, thats a l-o-t of the monies. You may be better off keeping your eyes open for a nice, well kept later model for that sort of spend. They do come up rarely, but you have to be quick - there's a member on here with the orange rev5, i'm pretty sure he picked that car up from the ACT - low milage and killer price too! (it was only on the market for a day or two!)
