IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hi guys,
unfortunately I have some bad news and some (maybe) good news.
Bad news first, due to the confusing nature of the initial invitation sent to the MR2 Owner's Club, we have had a misinterpretation of the date we were required to give an EOI for participation. It was initially thought if we did not want to hire marquees for all the attending cars, we did not have to give numbers that early of a date. Therefore because of this, we have been informed we missed the EOI date.
The potential good news is, after consultation with the organising parties we have been put as priority replacement club entry for allocated spaces. Which means we will be allowed to enter if the other participating clubs do not give the full number entries compared to their quoted EOI numbers. We have been told that we will have a firm confirmation of approved entry within 2 weeks as the other club's entries are made.
I apologise to those in advance if they really had their heart set on displaying their cars at the Formula 1 this year. I will promise though that next year, since we now have better contacts direct to the AGPC we will not make the same mistakes again.
Plan B: if the F1 display falls through: Since we have some interstate MR2 owners coming to visit us, I can try organise a small photoshoot and meet up at Garage Cafe in the CBD of Melbourne on the Saturday night of qualifying. We can possibly see a greater selection of MR2s than those that are able to make it to the display. We will be able to talk about the results of qualifying while having dinner & drinks at one of the most popular restaurant/bar venues for Melbourne's car enthusiasts.
More information will be sent out on news from the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
Thank you,
