Hey guys,
cut off of when we have to give the AGPC our numbers is fast approaching (Feb 10th). I would hope that every one that can attend, has emailed either myself or the events club email address before Friday (Feb 8th), to avoid any last minute paperwork problems.

So far we have 6 committed MR2s with a possible 6 more that are on the "maybe" list. Anyone and everyone with a MR2 is welcome to attend, there are no restrictions on your MR2 model. Although we would prefer that the car is in a respectable state for show (race cars are acceptable to be race car dirty lol).

Brendan has created another thread for the meet up between owners at a nearby venue to occur possibly on the Saturday night/afternoon after qualifying. We have interstate MR2 club owners visiting.

The F1 circus has officially kicked off yesterday with Lotus' E21 2013 Challenger. Many other teams will be launching their cars this week as well. Hope to see as many of you at the MR2 display or at the MR2 owner get together.

Hey Guys,

By the looks of things I should be in Vic between 25th Feb to 27th March so I should be coming down to watch the GP not too sure if I will come over in the Mr2 yet or not.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Hi guys,
unfortunately I have some bad news and some (maybe) good news.

Bad news first, due to the confusing nature of the initial invitation sent to the MR2 Owner's Club, we have had a misinterpretation of the date we were required to give an EOI for participation. It was initially thought if we did not want to hire marquees for all the attending cars, we did not have to give numbers that early of a date. Therefore because of this, we have been informed we missed the EOI date.

The potential good news is, after consultation with the organising parties we have been put as priority replacement club entry for allocated spaces. Which means we will be allowed to enter if the other participating clubs do not give the full number entries compared to their quoted EOI numbers. We have been told that we will have a firm confirmation of approved entry within 2 weeks as the other club's entries are made.

I apologise to those in advance if they really had their heart set on displaying their cars at the Formula 1 this year. I will promise though that next year, since we now have better contacts direct to the AGPC we will not make the same mistakes again.

Plan B: if the F1 display falls through: Since we have some interstate MR2 owners coming to visit us, I can try organise a small photoshoot and meet up at Garage Cafe in the CBD of Melbourne on the Saturday night of qualifying. We can possibly see a greater selection of MR2s than those that are able to make it to the display. We will be able to talk about the results of qualifying while having dinner & drinks at one of the most popular restaurant/bar venues for Melbourne's car enthusiasts.

More information will be sent out on news from the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

Thank you,

Hey everyone,
unfortunately I have just recieved an email from Toby Ward who is responsible for Automotive Avenue that no other clubs have cancelled. This means that we are not able to participate this year. However he has told me to email back this November to ensure things go more smoothly for next year (2014). The major problem we had this year was that we were getting most of our correspondance 2nd hand through CAMS and that's where confusions began! I whole heartedly apologise for those who had their heart set on attending the GP as part of a display.

At this point I am going to cancel this event and go to Plan B.

Plan B will be a club meet instead on the weekend of the grandprix (probably Saturday after qualifying), at a local bar or conveniant location such as Garage Cafe. I may ask Garage Cafe if we can have the venue's internal parking closed off for the MR2 club's use. We have some interstate MR2 club friends coming down for the F1 so it would be nice to organise a meet and greet to show off the MR2 scene in Melbourne.

On the plus side we may be able to see more MR2s come out for a change since the F1 displays requirement of leaving your car there for 4 days straight was a large ask.

Thank you,
