The car has done 151,000 kms, but the engine was replaced and no one knows how many was on it.. Though I don't think it had done a lot while its been in my car.

Could is it cold day it does it could just be condensation build up. Or something?
But to use that much oil is a mystery
Maybe check seals

Definently not condensation, happened on hot days after driving a fair bit.

Yeah, thanks. I will have to try that.

It has not done it since yesterday. I think it may be the seals in the turbo (well I hope, other wise I will have to take the engine out). I will have to have a look at it on the weekend and pull things apart.

Okay, so I've been watching it closely. It's blows white smoke most of the time now, but doesn't get worse at high revs. And sometimes it will blow a lot while idling.

I think your turbo is dead

I had one go bad once and used to pump out the noxious smoke at idle but hardly any whilst above idle RPMs.

^what he said
turbo oil seals are gone, check your IC piping and IC for lots of oil... good excuse to ditch the old CT26 anyway and put in a fresh 20B or something :)

It's hi-flowed, but I reckon your right because it was done a while back (at least 7 years). Thanks.

The seals of a turbo work pretty weird as they don’t seal great on idle, but once the turbo shaft spins faster it seals really well.

If there is smoke at idle and minimal to none at high revs then you can almost guarantee that your turbo is gone, the leaky seal is a problem that is caused by worn bearings as the seals are like little piston rings it usually mean the shot bearings cause the shaft to run off centre and not seal properly.

Depending on how skilled you are you could also rebuild you own turbo, I have done a few CT26’s and it is pretty easy cost is pretty cheap, it’s also a good idea to get it balanced.

I took the intercooler pipe off the turbo and no oil at all, but when I took the intake off there was fresh oil as well as below the turbo.

The leak could also be on the turbine / exhaust side of the turbo, this would also cause smoke but clean intake piping.

Any way of finding out if it is without taking it off?

oil in the intake is common on the Gen 2 since it was poorly designed PCV with no 'catch can'.
