Using a 3SGTE distributor on a 3SGE

Hey guys

Just need some help. Some may know that my deuce suffered a serious overheat and a blown HG some time ago and is finally off being reconditioned as we speek. I have been recommended to get my distributor reconditioned as well due to the electrical plug being slightly broken and the o-ring replaced as it could be shot after the overheat.

I have spoken to some Auto-Electricians and they have told me that they can not recondition it due parts not being easily available. So that has left me with a couple of aftermarket companies and Toyota Genuine which i was quoted $910 for the whole lot or $410 for the housing.
It occurred to me that i have a 3SGTE engine sitting in my garage with a excellent condition distributor and by what i can tell they are exactly the same.

My question is....are they in fact the same in all specs so that i can use it on my 3SGE?

Thanks in advanced

Declan
