Dennis, are you really a boring old fart? And I thought the strange smell in the air at Kingaroy was Doug burning rubber.
On a more serious note, as we discussed at Motors in Motion, I never cease to marvel at what people put in their ads when they try to sell a car. In the first AW11 ad, apart from the oil leak, no RWC and the so-called easy fixes, the part about the wheels in the photo not being for sale with the car says a lot. If the wheels shown aren't the ones you are getting then how about the rest of the vehicle? Personally though, if ones like this are bringing $6k, then mine must be going up in value quite well.
Many years ago I worked in the trade (Ron Hodgson Motors in Sydney - Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves were amateurs compared to Ron) and the three things you wanted to see first were a full service history, a list of all previous owners, and a proper detailed technical inspection. If someone told you the car "owed them $40k but they'd be happy to take $20k" then you suggested either a good psychiatrist or stand up comedy as a career.
On the second AW11 ad I wondered at first if Ron had come back from the dead and was in the used car business again with the way the car was depicted - was the ad really for an AW11 or a tricked up Gen 2 Soarer - but the old expression of "would you buy a used car from this company?" came to mind.
It's not wonder you often get the lament on the Forum about no-one being interested in the car being advertised.
