Adrian's new Toyota Caldina ST215

1998 Toyota Caldina GT-T

17x7 +38 A-Tech rims,
Blitz cat-back exhaust
Apexi N1 ATS silencer
Blitz DSBC spec R
Blitz radiator cap
Blitz boost gauge
Largus Coilovers
Brakes EBC Greenstuff All Round
Hey all,
Wanted to share my new project, picked her up last night. its an awesome ride and its much quicker than my old one. This time round i've got a sunroof too which is awesome.
This used to be Maike's car off Toymods. I couldn't say enough nice things about the previous owner, he offered to drive all the way down from Albanvale to Glen Waverely to drop the car off, then took the train back home.
Its great to have such a nice exhaust system done, as well as the Largus coilovers and boost controller. It opens up so many doors for future modifications.
I'm just taking things as they come, but there was a few minor things I just needed to fix. Please feel free if you have any ideas on how I should go about resolving them.
Fix the sunroof
The sunroof isn't working at the moment. I've noticed that buttons to open the sunroof seem to work for a very short moment (was too scared to open it anymore) but to try and close the sunroof, neither close button did anything. I was going to take the interior cover of the buttons off and clean all the contacts. I'm hoping it could be something as simple as the contacts gumming up.
Noise at Front Strut
I noticed when turning at low speeds I could hear the spring in the coilover repositioning/twisting. I heard I could adjust the preload to stop this, or use a ballbearing ring in place. These coilovers used to be in Ronas car I believe.
Small Oil Leak
There is a small leak that I need to attend to at some stage for rwc, i'm not quite sure where it is coming from yet but i'm hoping its an easy one doh
I've got an Aero Factory kit for the car all ready to go on, as well as my original Bridgestone BIM Downhill Special 17x7.5 +35 offset wheels which should look awesome. Hoping the colour will match in well though, they are technically olive colour now haha.
I am begging that the st215 and st246 caldinas share the same floorpan, in hopes that I could chuck a set of the ST246 N edition recaro seats in.

Good question actually, it seems like the sunroof was working ok originally but it slowly stopped. I'd be keen as to get it running again, i'm worried if I remove the headliner then it will never sit right again lol.

hahaha, I do love my cars. I am building up a list of goodies for it. I'm aiming for 600-700hp (at the camshaft LOL) I wish I could make that sort of power.
I think i'd be happy with around 150-160kw atw which seems to be the limit for the stock turbo. My old sw20 mr2 pulled 150kw atw on the factory ecu with a ct20b, so I can hope that i'll be able to make at least that with a gen 4 3sgte

    A little update for everyone:

Last night I removed the roof racks, I will keep them in the garage if I need them in the future.

This weekend i'll be chucking on the wheels from My ZZT231 onto the Caldina. The offset will be nearly perfect for them.

Its funny that the wheels were originally on a ST215, then a ZZT231 and now they are returning back onto a ST215.

I'll give the interior and exterior a really good clean and polish. My head unit should go in nicely. I'm still just getting accustomed with the car

I went to work today chucking on my BIM downhill Special AE034 17x7.5 wheels. They looks pretty good on the car. Since there was a change in the profile in the tyre (from 50 profile to 45), so the wheel arches look a bit bare at the moment. This was straight after lowering it, so it may take a good drive till they sit at the same height again.

Well I like to keep busy, so I chucked on the rear aero kit rear bar. It went on really nicely and only took about 15 minutes. I cleaned the area behind the bumper nicely and bolted everything up.
The under side of the lip will eventually require a bit of attention from a plastic welder as there is a small crack down the bottom of one of the mounts and one on the left hand side.
Notice my traditional "TRD" addition to the car? I love those decals lol. Now to find something TRD to put on the car to make the sticker relevant lol.
I am on the hunt for some better nick aero kit sideskirts as the ones I have at the moment are in need of some work as well.
The front bar will go on tomorrow hopefully.
The muffler sits a bit off, but this should be resolved quite easily with a visit to the muffler shop.

Well not to leave things half finished I went on to do the front bumper too. I really love the look. The only issue I had was with one of the fog lights having a blown bulb and I didn't have one spare. They are quite difficult to take out so the bumper will likely come off again in the near future.
    Its all coming together yay

I got the car back today from the mechanic, the air conditioning gas was reconditioned and its super cool now (just in time for summer).
I took the time today to clean up a few things that I was meaning to do.
I got a GPS/BLUETOOTH/DVD headunit online the other week and got around to installing it today, it fit in really nicely. I wouldn't mind spacing out the headunit slightly further out (was thinking about elongating the mounting holes).

I removed the back trim on the hatch (it was damaged) and found a bit of damage doh :( I am hoping that the Panel beater will be able to remove them (even though you won't see it behind the trim its nice to know that its all straight.

I plastic welded the hole, it still needs more work but its better than what I had before. I found that cable ties are an excellent source of cheap plastic when plastic welding:

My Cusco Rear Sway bar is on the way from Japan. Can't wait to get it installed.

Here are some photos of the car:

    Hey Pal :)

Yeah its auto haha. They are very expensive in Manual (generally 13-14k for a decent one) and I have a cheaper base to start off with.

It was love at first sight when I first saw it so there was no denying it would be all MINE. haha

Oh that would have been awesome. I remember a few years ago that you were looking for one for your girl friend at the time too?

A couple of new photos today. I was driving around for the first time since I got the car back and noticed it was down on power, I noticed I was only boosting to .5 bar. I may have hit the boost controller when cleaning today. A quick phone call with the previous owner and it seems that the car was on the low boost setting. A quick adjustment and the car is back to normal now. Big difference from 7psi to just on 12psi now. I was wondering whether the st215 has a boost cut? I wasn't sure where to adjust the boost controller to (was thinking 14-15psi)
