Need Catalytic converter for my 1990 MR2 GT

Hi All!
I recently took my baby to get the ugly 4 inch single exhaust replaced and return to the original twin pipes and have discoverd i need a new catalytic converter at a quote of $1200.. does this price seem high? any ideas of maybe doing this cheaper?
Many thanks

"a new catalytic converter at a quote of $1200".
I assume that is for a muffler as well as the cat.
A stainless cat on it's own might cost between  $200-400 but would need to be integrated into the system, flanged etc.

If you want a stock muffler, have you thought of advertising on here for one?
Could work out a lot cheaper.

Would've given u mine if still had it (NA tho)
I say scour wreckers for cheap solution otherwise high flow metal cats shouldn't be over $300
    +1 for going twin :D
