FS Gen 2 NA engine & gearbox

Hey guys,

I popped by a wrecker on my way home today from uni looking for a toyota cressida for a friend. (let me know if you know of one somewhere for sale)  Anyway in my search i found a NA engine & gearbox. In my rush to get home as i forgot i actually had to be back for another friend i forgot to ask for kms and where the rest of the car was. I did get a price of 1000 for both or 650 for engine and 450 for gearbox. Thoughts on the price? and if anyone is interested it was self serve auto parts, 1156 boundary road.

Regards Fraser.

I recently bought a gen2 turbo engine for $450 and box $200 off Justin from here.
Those prices are a bit steep IMO.

It amazes me how much faith people put in the amount of kms traveled when trying to decide whether any car (or motor/gearbox) is worth buying.
It is really irrelevant even if kms were accurate with full service history log books etc, because there are hard kms and there are easy kms depending on the driver. Surely that must be obvious when you think about it.

If condition of that stuff is unknown, then might hardly even be worth half the asking price.

Too true. Most jap wreckers provide a compression test.  Imo I wouldn't buy an engine without one, It's also good if they can demonstrate the engine running to you.

I ended up chucking my 3S to a scrap yard after 12 months of no interest.
