The 1 or 2 point thing refers to how many places it will disable the engine. Ie 1 point might just disable the ignition, so techically you could just bypass that and start the car. A 2 point system might disable the fuel pump as well, so it would be more work to bypass. However if you find the control box and can work from that side of the loom, then it doesn't really take any time regardless of how many points.
Paging systems are a decent idea, so it can let you know when the alarm is triggered. Internal batteries are on the better systems, so just cutting the battery won't kill the alarm. However the installation quality is way more important than the unit itself. If you can find the control module, you can bypass the alarm without a lot of effort. I'll always hide it somewhere unusual and hard to access, which on an SW there are a few good places. Also hide the wiring, I'll run it along an existing loom and tape up the whole thing again.
Regardless though, nothing will stop a determined thief. You don't need to be smart to drag a car up a towtruck, alarm or not. But it can stop the average dumbass, cos they are ridiculously easy to steal otherwise (like anything from that era).
