The September Run Is ON!!!!

The Run Is ON!!!
Everyone,
the September Run that was postponed two weeks ago because of our urgent family business in Sydney is certainly on this coming Sunday, the 23rd of September.
As previously indicated we are going to do a re-run of the Kenilworth route we did at the start of the year when many did not come because of the weather (read flooding) happening at the time.
Please note that we are intending to use the Bellbird Tea Rooms for lunch and the minimum numbers for a buffet lunch still apply, so indicate in your reply if you are happy with this arrangement and we will call ahead. Interestingly, unlike back in February when water cut the area off, the local businesses are now having to bring water in by truck because it has been so dry.
Details for the Run as as follows, but if you put your name on the Roll Call at the bottom of this post then we will send you a comprehensive navigation sheet via PM.

Meeting Place/Time: (North Side of Brisbane)
  • Hungry Jack’s at the corner of Gympie Rd and Beams Rd, Carseldine. There is a Caltex servo at the meeting place plus coffee shops, etc, and plenty of parking space.
  • Meet at 9.00am for a 9.30am (sharp!) departure.
Route:
  • North on the M3 to the M1 and then via Steve Irwin Way/Beerburrum Rd/Old Gympie Rd/Peachester Rd to Peachester for short morning tea stop.
  • From Peachester to Kenilworth for lunch via Booroobin Rd/Maleny-Kenilworth Rd.
  • Lunch at Bellbird Creek Tea House (www.bellbirdcreek.com) – see details below.
  • After lunch then continue via Kenilworth and the Eumundi-Kenilworth Rd/ Obi Obi Rd to Mapleton, and then through Montville and down the Razorback Rd to Palmwoods, and back to the Bruce Highway via Eudlo Rd, Mooloolah Rd and Steve Irwin Way.
  • Brisbane is then 80kms south via the Bruce Highway.
  • Total distance from HJ’s to finish is approximately 185kms
Lunch:

The Bellbird Creek Tea House has meals you can order over the counter but if we get 15 people or more then the staff will put on an all-you-can-eat steak and salads BBQ buffet for $15.00 each.

We will need to know the numbers of people coming ASAP for the BBQ buffet so please let us know on the Roll Call if you are going to be there. If there are less than 15 people then we just order individually or take our own.

RUN ROLL CALL:
1. Tralfaz and Mrs Tralfaz - AW11 S/C

There is one coming but you could be right. Without all the younger and less experienced drivers we'll be able to go faster.
I have had quite a few apologies via PM and it seems that quite a few of our younger members have their cars off the road. Either that, or work calls.

I know it's late, and you'll probably see this tomorrow after the Run, but if I can get my act together earlier in future I'll try and post these earlier . . .

    Dave,
we really enjoyed having yourself and Janet along on the Run, and we hope this will be a continuing thing. I know Grant and Danelle are happy that we now have another Spyder coming with us.
Your car looks fantastic in that metallic green, alongside Grant's immaculate yellow submarine.

Although the number of cars was relatively small, what was special was the representation from all three types, and not more than one of a particular colour. I have put a couple of photos up on the Forum separately so everyone can see what they missed out on.

Matt's red SW20 was amazing with both top looks and huge performance. It's really good to see an SDub that has been engineered properly to almost full turbo potential but with Matt keeping it very close to original on the outside. So much better than poorly fitted body kits and suspension so low you can't drive over a speed hump.
The car is a credit to Matt and I hope he doesn't mind travelling down from the Sunshine Coast more often to join us with his brother Ben as co-pilot. Ben is also another Toyota fan and later showed us pictures of his Celica-powered mid 1980's Crown. I hope he might bring this on our next outing as it would be nice to have a "limousine" with us.

I won't comment on the other cars, especially Steve's SW20 Bathurst, because it can't be improved due the way he looks after it. If Steve goes to the Nationals next year then there is going to be some very tough competition from him for best SW20.
All in all it was a great day, the weather was just right, and the roads really suited the cars.

Thanks again for coming and see you next month,
    Walter

thanks mate, feels good when someone else appreciates your own car too, and bens car is a ms123 toyota crown powered by a ma70 supra 7MGTE, has 230kw atw, whole car including engine/gearbox/mods and car itself has only cost him $5500, givin that he is a mechanic and did all the work himself he should be proud.
