How often do you get pulled up?
Hey guys
Just a general question here
How often do you get pulled up by the po-po in your mr2?
In my case- not yet, since I hardly drive it, and I have big L plates on the car :P
I'm interested to hear your stories!

My wife says it's a cop magnet, but so far not been stopped. My Spyder has been lowered so it always feels like you are going faster than my other car....lol a Mazda CX7 where you sit two stories above the road...

Cops dont bother me one bit and im on my green P's. I used to get pulled over at least twice a week in my AE92 but in my Sdub they dont look twice and i havent been pulled over once in the last 10 months ownership other than the typical roadside RBT crew.

I've yet to be troubled by the local constabulary. Only time i've ever been looked at was by a cop walking down the road past me. He had a look, said 'nice example you have there' and carried on LOL.

Never in the mr2. More likely to get pulled over if you have the usual attractions. cannon exhaust, big wheels, stickers, lowered, p-plate :D I dont think the actual car is as important. I got pulled up on the old pacific highway, going quickly, but not excessive just fast in the corners. In an R33 Skyline (stock), he asked to check the bonnet, i had "cops are tops" stickers under the bonnet, he laughed and let me go.

I was 'pulled up' more times in my old camry station wagon lol It really depends on how you drive it, more so than the type of car. Most cops probably mistake it for a "celica" anyway :P

I drove my mr2 for almost 2 years on my P's. Not meant to have been driving it being turbo so I rubbed of the turbo writing infront of the rear wheels just in case they saw the Green P's and read it. Never got pulled up until I had about 2 months left on my P's by a guy that knew what the cars were and knew it would have been a turbo. (Not many people know what an MR2 is around here) Was a really nice guy and let me go promising I wouldn't drive it until on my full licence. I kept my promise and all has been good.

I was pulled up once in 7 years for having my fog lights on, they were sitting near the TAFE college I teach at. He was a bit surprised that this old bloke was stepping out of the car. He gave me a warning for the lights but didn’t mention the 4" HKS exhaust sticking out the back or the half role cage and the very loud intake fan for the aftermarket intercooler. The rest was pretty well hidden. Sometimes getting old is a blessing.

hmmm... in NZ i got pulled up a few times for speeding... got pulled up once by an absolute SCUMBAG cop in tassie a few years back now, i was just bombing along going out for dinner, a guy next to me in a skyline GTST was in a turning lane and floored it and cut me off, tire noise and a large BOV and a cop came running round the corner and thought it was me as i was idling up to the traffic lights (anyone who's heard my car can probably understand the cop's mistake) I tried explaining it wasn't me but the POS skyline next to me but he wasn't listening..... later on while talking to the police superintendant about my formal complaint the guy's boss said "well if you just bought a BMW or something we wouldn't bother you". ... TWATS. these days i dont drive it too much cause its really not worth my trouble dealing with the knobs and especially avoid taking it out on public holidays when they're trying to fill quotas.

I've only been randomly pulled over once while I was on my P's. The cop had an MR2 & wanted to take a look as he was doing an engine conversion Only other times were for defects (thrice I think). Unlucky those times, spotted by cops that were running low on their defect quota. Been blocked off though. Mainly cos I was doing well over 200 (while street racing) & didn't stop. Long story but I absolutely deserved it. I actually have respect for police, he set me straight & I've been 100 x more mature ever since. Actually...now I think of it there were a few more, but from memory I was young & dumb thinking a cop wouldn't chase me for valving him in the face.

I have only been pulled up for one RBT and for going through an amber light (let me off luckily - it would have been the same fine/points for going through a red light!) in 3+ years.

theres no doubt they can be decent, but theres a lot of luck involved with them too...... my car has CRAP paint and looks like a bomb, and twin 3" exhausts with no cats and 4" tips... it probably gets the wrong sort of attention from them... if you wash your car and its not too noisy/low then they'll probably leave you alone.

I think I've been 'randomly' stopped twice in 7 years. In saying that I don't hang out at 'bust' locations. Although, when I got stopped for my one and only speeding ticket (in this car) it was almost worth it when he stood at the front of the car and told me to open the bonnet.
What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law.-"Sheriff Buford T. Justice." Do you know the 1st rule of Italian driving?
