I wouldn't say more fun, it's different. I took my MR2 out in the same conditions today and the grip was stupendously good! The 86 is all about sideways action, it is a blast to slide though, so easy.

It was pretty hard to break traction in the MR2, my rear tyres are really good. But first gear slides were manageable and drifting it wasn't nearly as hard as people make it out to be. You just need to be going much faster! I will say though, the GT86 could go with half a turn more steering lock. It seems to "run out" of steering, you really notice it when you hop out of a s14 and straight into that. And it also doesnt sound very exciting when you rev it. But overall I would rate it, I wouldnt say no to having one in my driveway!

I was riding shotgun in one of these, and personally it felt kinda similar to the deuce - snug, low centre of gravity. But it was only for like 10 mins so doesn't really count lol. The GT86 CoG is 460mm, does anyone know the specs for our 2?

nice one, have been thinking about taking one for a test drive and see if I like it... but that certainly beats a casual drive in the city!

Id like to see what they are like in dry conditions. The supervisor on the day said they had them at morgan park yesterday and they were still very tail happy in the dry. He did complain about lack of power .... But it moves a little bit faster than a NA MR2!

And I bet it still won't keep up with my AW11 S/C which is 22 years old, only has a 1.6 lt engine and does 7.2 lt per 100km with the A/C on. Go the oldies!

The car is clearly under-tyred on purpose. Just about every review I've read on this car says it's easy to slide, lack of power, doesn't need the power, chassis can take alot more than what it's set up for from the factory etc etc. I'd love to know what it would drive like with a set of decent sized wheels and proper rubber on it. I doubt the "fun" factor would be there. The chassis would cope and it would grip fine but then your just longing for that extra oomph down the straights instead of just trying to maintain momentum through corners. Seeing alot more on the roads now too.
