Collected the car today - third time lucky on the clutch, it's finally fixed and feels great. Can actually drive around town confident I'll be able to get the gear I want when I want it. New o2 sensor & temp sensor to hopefully sort out my cold/rich running, oh and some new nuts...

You'll see it Steve, just a shame it won't be this weekend due to Japan trip. Hoping for much less mechanic time and more track time in 2014!
Main (vague*) plans this year will be intercooling (shroud, fan & water injection?), fuelling, ecu, and maybe then just a touch up on the bodywork/paint and fitting the big wing I just bought :)
*Vague meaning I'll be needing to do a bit of research and get some opinions before I dive in too much!

So a couple of pics of my engine out... grubby looking unit all right! Looks more like a farm tractor on the exhaust side!
The car had been losing some compression, so before going ahead with any of the planned upgrades it's going to get stripped down and made solid.
Once that's out of the way, I'm thinking of W2A intercooling, fueling upgrade and a stand-alone ECU.
Guess I'll be getting some track time in the back half of the year :(

Not too long now - W2A heat exchanger is in, harmonic balancer should arrive Tuesday, the guys can put the head back on and engine in. Then ECU time, tuning and give it a whirl. Can't wait!
Degreased the engine bay today (forgot pics sorry) - I think I've saved 1-2 kgs of weight with that gunk gone!

So here's the latest. I picked the car up last weekend, which was fantastic after almost 6 months! Scrubbed up well with a wash, and feels so good to drive! Dyno showed 280 hp (209 kw) at a debatable boost level - ECU and guauge were showing 16psi, the dyno showing about 18. Anyway, a solid improvement over the previous 185 kw at 15ish and leaning out! Still a bit bumpy there on the AFRs...
Work done includes...

Engine rebuild: Bored & honed, crankshaft grind & balanced, Block decked, O'haul Oil pump, head serviced, head & manifold ported, new water pump, thermostat, plugs. Parts inc CP forged pistons (.020" oversized), Eagle Rods, Cometic metal HG, ARP head studs, ARP main studs, ACL bearings main, rods& thrust(main & rods 0.010"), Full OEM gasket & timing kits, OEM crank pulley (harmonic balancer), Fidanza Lightweight flywheel.
Fueling & IC upgrade: Frozenboost W2A IC (type 3) and front mount heat exch (type 100 = 24x12x1 inch), cheapo Rule water pump, Walbro 255 Lph fuel pump, Wolfkatz Top Feed Fuel Rail, Bosch(ID) 900 cc/min High Imp. Inj. + Clips.
ECU: EMS EM70 & MSD Ignition unit
AirCon deleted, 4pt harness installed.

Took it to Wakefield on Wednesday, and almost cried on the way down - 4 gear pulls produced much earlier boost than before, but quickly changed into the flutter I now know as compressor surge! The day wasn't wasted, but I could only power up gradually out of corners, and recorded fairly limp 1:17's (there's some serious driver improvement potential here also to be honest :-). Acceleration down the main straight was great though, matching most of the cars there and it sounded good! The compressor surge probably wouldn't be an issue if I took more corners in 2nd but it's very offputting. So hopefully can sort that with some tuning tweaks or else turbo/cam work (or other suggestions?)
The W2A was flawless, after each session I felt the intercooler and it was cold, so really pleased with that. Should be able to get some logs off the tuner in a couple of weeks to see how the intake temps etc went.

Tuner has dialled the boost down just enough at low-mid rev rates to knock out the compressor surge, feels much nicer now to have the confidence to plant it!
(Edit- famous last words, still a problem, and now post- Christmas there's oil in the intake...)

Think I just saw you near Homebase Prospect earlier today. Looks good. I was in the MR2 & briefly caught you @ the roundabout before going in the opposite direction.

Lol, was there smoke coming out of the exhaust? Might be my car, it's with Paul Brell at Girraween to try and sort my turbo oil leak/ compressor surge ahead of the MTC, so right neighbourhood. Plate MI57ER?

Your setup is similar to mine. Has your turbo been high flowed? 16psi is the most I can run due to intake temps being too high above that level. I'm at the limit of what the turbo can pump. Mine leaks oil a little bit too. My old ST185 GT4 did too. It seems to be a common problem with the ct26

Was your car I'm certain. Wasn't directly behind it for more than a few seconds. I saw him rev it out a bit in the opposite direction & didn't notice any excessive smoke.

Btw, the stock ct26 is really useless past 16psi anyway. I know this one is "high flowed" though so shouldn't apply.

I haven't seen anything above 210kW with a high flowed ct26 though you can get up to 250 with e85 due to reduced temperatures
