BIKES....

I'm having trouble deciding on a new bike. I THINK I've nailed it down to 2... although theres some pretty nice other options... so i thought id get some input from you guys if you feel like piping up.

Ducati 848 EVO or Aprilia RSV4 R ARPC.... what do you guys reckon?

i've also tossed up a CBR1000, MV Augusta F3 or F4, KTM R8, BMW S1000RR, Triumph 675R., or even a ducati 1199 (though i think it'd be plagued with teething issues and a 6 month wait)

I like my crotch rockets so i'll pipe up lol
Never been a fan of the italian build stuff but I don't think you can go wrong with the Fireblade, S1000RR or even the 675R (sounds horn with carbon pipes).
I think my first choice would be the S1000RR (fastest, angry pirate front end lol) followed very closely by the Fireblade.  Although the KTM and Triumph are VERY cool too.

^That thing reminds me of a shark with the gills on the side!
Don't know why you need 1000cc on a bike tho! (saying that I've never been on anything bigger than 250cc lol but you only live once i suppose)

lol Tree you don't NEED 1000cc on a bike same reason you don't NEED 400hp in an MR2. They'll do 160 in 1st though and keep up to supercars (straight line). Cheap thrills...
If I had a 1000 i'd probably have no licence or worse right now. 600cc is more than enough to get me in trouble on the street.

    I'm under same trouble questioning.
I have a Z1000 and thinking what would be the next model. So started test ridding them.
Yamaha R1 - crap, feel that you are going to loose front wheel every curve, didn't like riding position, instruments... hate it.
Kawa zx10r- great sound, handles very well , abs ( you can not lock that rear whell). ..but I have that muffler( horrible ).
Aprilia 1200 dorso duro - supermortard, great on curves, any gear the front will lift, kinda off on the heavy side, but wonderful engine, abs as well.
MV F4- handles very well, good punch but too loud to me. I don't like the idea of using ear protection to enjoy my bike...maybe I'm getting old.
Duca 848 - that is the bike that I'm going for, great handling, power, design, what can I say. just perfect, if I have money would go for panigale but not enough cash.lol.
to make short, I think you should start test riding and take all bikes to the same location under same conditions, therefore you will be able to compare and decide. I would also finish with 2 potential bikes and test ride them again. To final comparer, riding style, equipments, fuel comsuption, parts and acessories price and maintenance.

    I hope that helps.
    cheers

I wouldn't get an Aprilia. Have dealt with a few of them, and they can be completely unreliable. Forget which model (maybe the RSVR) but at the press launch by the end of the day 5 out of 6 bikes had thrown rods.
Personally I'd love a Daytona 675. Look great, engine is meant to be fantastic, and I really don't need anything bigger.

mmm the old aprilias were typical italian... the new ones are meant to be pretty well built... a couple of years ago aprilia even changed ALL the engines out as a recall to ensure they didn't have problems... i think they're pretty keen to have no reliability issues....

675 is nice... but a mate has one and my CBR gets a lot more attention and has more presence..... its really just the fact that it comes with all the ohlins goodies for like 16k that gets it into the finals... the next bike with tht gear is the 848 evo corse which is about $24k... i agree though... nobody needs more power than a modern 600, i'm really only looking at litre bikes for presence, sound and styling... and that's why im NOT really interested in an 1198, just too mean for everyday on the road.

I WAs planning on getting the S1000RR when it came out a few years back, but because of the headlights and the different fairings on each side i just didn't like it so i've held out till now.

07-08 R1 for me. Not a fan of the current R1 though. I'm short, so GSXR's suite me well.

If going via lease....Duke for sure. Easy decision in my eyes.

As for the 1000 comment. I love some "excess" :)

I ride a Kawasaki ER-6N daily and love it. If i had a 1000 i would kill myself literally....

That being said i have ridden a 1000RR BMW around work and wow without even breathing on it!

My choice from your list would be the 848, i will also add that the Aprillia you mentioned has recently had BIG issues with clutches and alot of the dealers (vic atleast) are turning customers away/are not willing to fix them If you have your heart set on one just bare that in mind.

Personally i prefer naked bikes over sports bikes due to my back (where can you race around on one near me i do not know?)

You probably don't need a 1000cc. What kind of riding do you do? If you love twisties then get the 675r. I have a gsxr1000 and the R6 is soo much easier to ride in the twisties. But for straightline speed, the 1000cc will win hands down. I'm looking at getting a daytona 675r soon. My gsxr1000 is just too bulky around the twisties. Can barely keep up with the R6.

Ok so reviving a semi old thread.... I took the RSV4 factory for a spin yesterday... aside from tyhe fact it wants to stall under 30kph, the swtches aren't very positive in their positioning, and the clutch lever clicks on downshift... which was odd... the bike is friggin COOL. I've got the girlfriend and the guys at work all saying aprilia over Ducati or BMW (the guys at work ride and the gf obv gets a say lol)  SO it's looking like it's gonna be a couple of years of RSV4 factory.
