Looking forward to this. I too was wondering about the distinction between "street" and "circuit" classes - my AW is a daily driver, and I'll be doing the run down to the event (and home again). Also I'm only going to be cruising around, as befits my age . . .

dennis the menace Looking forward to this. I too was wondering about the distinction between "street" and "circuit" classes - my AW is a daily driver, and I'll be doing the run down to the event (and home again). Also I'm only going to be cruising around, as befits my age . . . Seems to be some confusion around street and circuit classes. Is it too late to consider say Road registered and Driven from HOME to the circuit class - replaces street class (excludes cars with special concesional road/rally registration which are treated as trailered class for purposes of this day) Trailered Class - pretty self explanatory with the "trailered class" eligible for trailered class trophies only and "driven to the circuit class" eligible for all trophies Same divisions could remain within the classes. You may even want to consider tyres in class definitions or within class definitions but thst is probably not that important I think that these classes may be more friendly and may stop some arguments as to who is eligible for what I am sure that there will be many a "street car" that will outperform (and embarrass) some of the trailered cars, much to the credit of the driving skills and vehicle preparation of their owners Thinking aloud, it really doesn't mean that much of a change - just to the defintions of street and circuit cars. Although it is the MR2 Challenge - and for many a competitive event - there are many who will just relish the opportunity to get their cars onto the track and not be out to do better than anyone but themselves over the two days As it has been pointed out in many a post through this topic, these two days are about friendly competition and having fun Just my two bob's worth. Flame suit already prepared

No need for a flame suit, this should be viewed imho, as a awesome event that will have "x" number of MR2's buzzing around the racetrack at one time of varying modification and types to entertain all. Personally who cares what class you're in, is it really that important to win trophies or plaques? i don't think so. i would much rather just be out there with other MR2's with similar pace in whatever class i am in. If i win something anyone who wants it can have it hahaha

I did ask for input over the last few months but ended up with the classes you now see but now they are up, there is now a base for discussion as to the best way to find a balance where we can have fun, be competitive, strive for bragging rights but in a way that is ultimately safe for all involved. I need to know lap times, car specs, driver experience to help plan who drives with who so people do not trip over each other. No point in having a 1:08 street car trying to knock out a hot lap with 15 cars just enjoying the opportunity of driving four layouts in two days. These guys will be doing 1:20's. This happens in the Wakefield 300 and it does require a lot of attention not to crash and people do crash in this race due to closing speeds. This cannot happen at this event so I need to get all the information I can to refine the classes so all the groups will be of a consistant speed to reduce accidents and to improve the experience of driving in a group. It looks like a reasonable amount of AW11 guys are keen to come along so if you guys what a class event for AW11's I can organise it. More tomorrow

Dudeman
As a question a few of us non-track types may be wondering...
I havent tracked a car before but like ever other 'driver' I think I know how to drive
Where does someone like myself fit into the catagories? I don't have any track times to show.
Are these door to door events or time trials?
I have two mr2's, one n/a other turbo, both used as dailys (one will have to be sold one day, apparently...)
So, where do us 'amateurs' fit in? Keen as, its a lot more possible for me than tas!
Good question Dudeman, First, I have no doubt on yours and others ability to manage a car but it takes time to get in tune with the whole driving at the track. You, like everyone else will fit in just fine. With the first day spent on three different layouts which no one has really been on, we will all be in the same boat at getting up to speed so will just be having a ball instead of concerning ourselves with whos the quickest. All the people with limited experience will be sent to the hillclimb as their first taste of the track. Reason being, these are individual timed sessions with 20 second intervals between each driver with only the track to focus on. The second session will involve a multicar session with each car sent out at 5 second intervals. I will sort out some information to help people with limited experience and for the experienced. More than likely a track walk on the Monday morning. If people are staying on the Sunday night, we can spent plenty of time riding a bike over the track or walking to get a clear understanding of the best way around the track. Information will be available on the website.

To the question on other cars entering: Its open to other makes but Im trying to keep it quiet for a few weeks so we can have as many MR2s as possible before anything else enters, then as many Toyota's or Toyota powered cars as posssible. In saying that, today a Supra has entered via Toymods.

B24 I can now confirm numerous cars which will be part of the invitational class. The biggest draw card being the LFA with Neil Bates at the wheel. The WRC Corolla will also be there, the Bates 86 tuner car will be there to promote their product to clients, a race spec Altezza,AE86 race cars, Gorilla Industries WTAC Supra and more. Will update the entries this week.
Are these cars still confirmed Steve? I'll likely only be able to come down for one day if at all due to work, keen to see some of these in action, and if they will only be there for one day I'll aim for that day
I havent contacted these guys yet, but will this week. As soon as its confirmed, it will be on the website. Mark is sorting out a newsletter option so whenever something comes up, you will know about it. Cheers
