Aye laddie,

there's nothing better than a gurrl with a skurt, with visible beard standing on end.

Yeah, altho i prefer top fuel dragsters for the noise, those you have to go and see, unless you have seen them in the flesh, you dont know what your missing.

Yes a F1 car sounds good, you can hear the precision and technology in the motor, top fuel is more like a petrol tanker exploding, not precise, but the amount of sound and air pressure from a long distance away, still makes non car people smile ear to ear and say ok that was pretty cool

If your a F1 fan obviously you would say F1, but what would you rather stand in between at the start line, 2 f1 cars taking off or 2 top fuel cars?

I love F1 but meh they howl and when its on i can hear them echoing around the city (we turn all the radios off) but Top fuel i agree with Brendan.

Theyre not just loud, they pound your chest and shake the earth literally.

back on track though. The month of March is obviously a better choice.

Lets see how many new faces we can get. I think everyone this year is likely to return.

I really enjoyed being at AIR a couple of times in the 80's, but watching Ayrton Senna blast out of the hairpin in Adelaide during qualifying in 1993 was an incredible noise and visual experience. So much on the line and such a consummate performance.

I have been to the F1 and couldn't bear the volume (musician needs to protect his ears) when it zoomed past in front of my eyes. It still sounded good with ears plugged. But that was 9 years ago when I was 14-15 and just getting into cars. No TV at that time (or section?) but if there was it might have been a better experience. Forgot about the girls tho!
Maybe everyone can chip in for promo girls at 2014 MR2 Challenge if they'd even agree to such a small event lol

I have been talking with Wakefied Park manngement about a date for March. Have also talking with a few other facilities, but more on that another day.
The cost to run a event in March will be almost triple the expense of the January date. This means a increase in the fee and no less than 40 cars. If 40 are not confirmed by a set date, itwill be cancelled the same as Winton. I dont want to see this happen so Im working on a option where we have a 'fallback' if the numbers are not confirmed or stick with early Jan or late Jan.
With early Jan, there is far more chance of the MR2 mechanical shops making it a they go back to work on the 14th. The down side is some people may be out of the country or away on holidays but there is 12mths to prepare so organising leave should be easier.
Not really into hairy promo girls but it is a 'run what you brung', so its really up to you. Seriously, if MTC grows enough, more will be added but at this stage leys just get the numbers first.
A goal is to have a MR2 only race if there are enough willing to compete. If we can get that happenening we can become a support class for other events. 6 would be a nice start, 10 would be better. Two 8 lap races on the Tuesday.

My 2 cents: go with the cheaper early jan date. No pressure to make the numbers - needing 40 to cut even is a big call. No one wondering if the event will go ahead. And less cost for everyone.

I agree. Plenty of time between now and January to organise leave with work and to avoid having holiday trips around then :)
March is probably going to be too cold in Goulburn anyway :P

Thankyou people. It will now be in January. Wakefield is being very kind with pricing to allow MTC to be part of all the other great events so we need to stay in Jan for a few years then once the numbers grow, we can move to another date if required.
New thread will start this week.
