The Premier All Japanese Day 2012 Sunday, June 17, 2012 - Details and Roll Call
As previously indicated we have decided to make the Premier All Japanese Day on Sunday the 17th of June our public display outing for this year. There has been a discussion thread going on this but we didn't want to publish any details until a meeting was had with the organisers about us attending as a Club. We have now had a chance to talk to Alan Taylor, one of the people involved with the gathering, and they are very interested in getting the MR2's along as a group. So here are the points you need to know: 1. Date is Sunday the 17th of June 2012. Venue is the Earnshaw State College, Banyo. 2. The organising committee will be setting up from 6.00am and have asked that if we can do it they would prefer us to arrive on the site by 7.30am. Cars can come and go as they like all day for thoe who like to sleep in, but to ensure a good space the "by 7.30am" arrival time should be respected. 3. Spectators can enter from 9.00am. Allen was really strong about this being open for everyone no matter what condition their car was in, so Domma? 3. Cost to display is free, but a gold coin donation per car is expected. Compare this to an average of $20 to $40 per car on display for other events and you will see one attraction immediately. 4. This event is not about awards and concor's de'elegance, etc; but is an opportunity to display what you have in an atmosphere where enthusiasts can talk, swap stories, etc; and see some rare Japanese cars. 5. We will be on grass, not concrete, so bring chairs and we will also have some signs and a marquee. In the week prior to the event we will be posting a meet up point and time for everyone who wants to attend, so keep a watch on this thread. The Run Manager is currently looking for a good meeting point that is as central for everyone as possible. Given that we are planning a Run (not CRUISE ) for the Queen's Birthday Weekend we won't be doing anything else as a Club on the 17th except attend the event. This should be a great day and rumour has it that the new Toyota 86 will be putting in an appearance, particularly as the Toyota S800 (the first Toyota sports car) being used for publicity shots of the 86 will be at the gathering. ROLL CALL: 1. Tralfaz and Mrs Tralfaz - AW11 S/C.

Dear Walter, What's happening with a run on Queens Birthday weekend? As it is less than a week away, I am anxious to know if it is still on and where... cheers...Grant.

(not sure if Nat will be awake as she comes home from south Africa the day before, but I have convinced a few prelude and skyline friends to come to the event, not with us specifically)

Cool 7 MR2's. And 1 of each, more or less. Looking foward to this weekend. The BP just off the arterial road is a good meeting place, can be crowded for this reason though. I say the BP because that exit is probably the easiest way to get there. (for me anyway) There's a few back street spots on the way from BP as well.

So are we gonna go with the BP meeting spot or has anyone else thought of another spot?
My friend in his skyline is driving along with me. (don't worry he won't park in the middle of us messing up our little collection)

To use a famous quote from the Dad's Army TV show about World War Two - (OK I admit I was there, but probably at my age more like the Boer War) - "don't panic Mr Mannering". We are having a look at a couple of RV spots because Bustin has said (and I have had it confirmed by others) that the BP gets very crowded. Groper and I are doing a bit of a recon and I will post the details on Saturday PM once we confirm the location. However, what I can confirm is that we will be meeting at 7.15am!!! (that's right, so no late parties the night before, or just stay up all night) and we will have a marquee to sit under and some nice Toyota signs so all you might want to think about bringing is chairs to sit on, although there will be some of these also. Make sure you check the Forum Saturday after 5.00pm for the RV point!
