Speedo Issue

After a 3sgte swap a few years ago I have never been able to get the speedo (And powersteering for that matter) working correctly. It used to consistantly work at about half the speed I was actually travelling, Now it flickers in speed ranges from 20-30km/h to 80-110km/h. I would really like to fix the issue and think I should replace the sender unit. I have two of them, and have tried swapping them out but the other didn't work at all. I have heard that the sender units can get some gear oil in them and fail? Thoughts. Does anybody know what a genuine one is worth?

Reckon the ECU wasnt wired up for the PS
With regards to the speedo mechanical or electronic?

Could be the cable especially if its mechanical.
    OR
You sure the Nylon wheel isnt damaged ?
Either way its a separate part from the body as i found out.
Cost me only $30 but i had ordered a lot of parts so shipping was negligible

    The body is around $120

Ecu is a plug in ViPEC and the power steering only works when the speedo is working. It is an electronic unit. It is my understanding that the powersteering gets a signal from the speedo sender unit. I have had the unit out of the gear box multipe times swapping between the other one I have to no avail. The nylon gear is in good condition.

I am not entirely sure what you mean by signal, however due to it working intermittently I would gather the PS is supported by the ECU

see if you can find the BGB wiring diags online, find the common wire for the PS and Speedo, and you'll no doubt find the source of you problem.

Does anyone have the Toyota part number for the speedo sender. Electronic one? Is the camry one the same?

I have been told that the E153 electronic speedo sensor is not compatible witht he non-turbo dash? Can anyone confirm this? Something to do with different outputs for the sensor.
