Anyone got a starter motor in melb? Anything which fits a 3SGTE, i have non-stock wiring so i can make it work if it fits (heard echo starters work)

oh, thought you'd find one easy as. i have one but not in melb hence didn't offer.

postage will cost more than the starter most likely.

Somehow i dont think so as they cost something over $1,000 new :(

Have been told that the regular 3SGE one will work also.

B24 says in his list of mods that his car is fitted with an Echo starter. Maybe PM him and see if it is a direct fit or if it had to be modified.

Then check out here. They are in Blackburn. New (unlikely to be genuine) but cost is between $220-$280 depending on whether its from a 1.3 or 1.5 Echo)

yeh i was hoping to find someone with one 2nd hand working haha, didnt really wanna fork out 200+ for a new one but all things considered its not that expensive.

Anyone else have a spare or know 100% if a 3sge one fits? I pulled an auto 3sge one which was stuffed, it fit after some grinding but the motor was dead which i dumbly didnt check properly.Maybe a manual one fits straight up?

    Will a starter motor from a 3SGE (1993 Gen 2 SW20) work in a 3SGTE (1990 Gen 1 SW20)?

They're different part numbers but I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable. They're both 12v 1.4kW units...Does it bolt into the housing?

been there, done it. 3sge starter gears reach in slightly shorter but fits and works fine. same teeth numbers etc.

lol, my comment about postage costing more than the starter was for me selling you mine, ie postage will cost prob $30 due to weight, and i'll charge you $25 for the starter hence it being cheaper than the postage.....

haha is yours a 3sge/5sfe or a 3sgte starter? Its just a starter to me, as long as it works and its not underrated and it starts the car lol.

it's an st185 gen2 3sgte starter. i swapped it as i needed the later style one, shorter body as my gt4 has the stock hard water intercooler lines which attach to the top of the gearbox mount and the std starter wouldn't allow them to fit.
