Constant power to stereo and boost controller with ignition off WTF..!!!
hi guys, long time lurker first time poster, I have a strange electrical problem where the stereo and boost controller stay on even with the keys out of the ignition. I havent had a chance to get on the tools and have a poke around, but could you guys possibly point me in the right direction of where to start...Im a mechanical engineer, and I am basically electronically retarded...so all help is appreciated.. boost controller is a blitz dual spec type R and the stereo is a kenwood MP443 if this helps.

Sounds like you wired up both the deck and ebc on the clock circuit

Both wires power and trigger have been wired on constant power . One the trigger should be wired to accessories when ignition on. If all else fails follow the instructions that came with the stereo first

Sounds like a dodgy install somewhere. Maybe get it checked out soon. Anyway, the green wire from the fuse box above the acellerator will give you the right switched circuit.

Thanks for that mate, that will point me in the right direction, PO was a little dodgy with his mods,(single wires running all round the engine bay, bolts missing from things) i have fixed a lot of little things so far, hoping its not tooo much of an abortion behind the dash...... will post up my solution when i find out whats going on.

sooo I learnt how to rewire a stereo and boost gauge yesterday, it was an absolute nightmare behind the dash.....I am surprised it didnt catch on fire. I ended up running brand new wires for the stereo and managed to get it sorted..(solder and correct joiners ) I dont even know where to even start when trying to describe it, other than it looked like a child had tried to do it.(twisted joints, some without tape, power feeding back into power) real dodgy ****e.!!!!... The lesson here peeps is if you dont know how to do something, PAY someone to do it properly or do your research and be thorough with what you are doing.. end rant.. Thanks to those that made suggestions and had input.....

I know the feel. some people do some stupid things. When I got my car the wiring was a mess. I had the head unit and a separate amp connected to the same stock 12v power wire. -_- I've become the stereo install guy for all my friends, because I won't let them do it the dogey way :P

You're lucky you got to that in time. It is amazing what some stupid people do with wiring. About a month after I first bought my car, I discovered a loose wire that was obviously not part of the stock wiring. It was tucked underneath the carpet on the passenger side with the insulation stripped on the end and was almost touching bare metal. No idea what it was used for. On tracing it back, I found it went thru the bulkhead straight to the battery, WITH NO FUSE!!! A real time bomb, and lucky I hadn't carried any passengers at that stage.

Good that you wired it properly ! Things going on/off generally is loose connections or dodgy wiring. That being the case is the car with the OEM engine ? If not check your earths also gear box to chassis and all the little ones to to chassis.

O and I also installed a fire extinguisher just in case. Go and get one peeps, 40 bucks is a small price to pay..... cars burn fast..!!
